Phrygian Triads
The second lick in our example 3 also uses an altered phrygian mode, but this time we are playing phrygian dominant from harmonic minor. The basic idea is to make use of triads emphasizing the E (i) and F (flat II) major chords of the progression. We'll cap the lick with a sweep picking rake that climbs the E major chord, then winds down the scale ending with a dramatic wide vibrato using either your fingers or the vibrato bar.
