I'm a little interested cause it seems to me as everyone just talk about metal or classic music. Well, please vote, maybe I'll find out that there exist than virtuoso-masturbaters (like me  ) on this forum. :D

Ps. I know there are more styles, but I only had 10 options to choose.. =( Ds.

Acctually, you're not, dude. =D

I like some to, NAW and Run-DMC. Somehow, I didn't thought that only likeing two bands (which I maybe listen 2% as much as the other music I got) wasnƤt enough to call me hip-hop-lover..

But the question is if liking Naw and Run-Damc is enough to make you prefer hip hop... DUN DUN DUN.

die-hard metalhead. though i love many other genres, classical, rock, celtic.
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

I try to listen to as much as I can. Some genres I just don't like. I've given them chances but I just don't seem to get into it. I'm hardly a rap fan, but I will admit that I've enjoyed a number of songs in the genre. Course it only seems clear to me that most people here would be into rock of some sort as this is a guitar based website and rock is a very popular genre. Myself being the metal head that I am, I do my best to not discern anything without giving it a chance. I lately motivated myself to listen to some Salsa music and I must say I did enjoy it. I like the percussions especially.

Dun dun dun is typically used to represent a heavy piano at a moment of tension and surprise.

Example:

Jonathan: Mary, I want you to know something about me, something dark
Mary: What is it, Jonathan, what could this dark secret be?
DUN DUN DUN
Jonathan: I am your father

Wait a minute.. let me make sure I got this right. How's this:

Roberto: I really like those pants. They are the pants' pants, as it were.
Jeff: Will you shut up about pants, already? That's two straight days you've been ranting about pants!
Roberto: Well, if you only knew why I loved pants so...
Jeff: Okay, let's have it.
Roberto: They.... they....
DUN DUN DUN
Roberto: What the--?
... and that's all I have to say about that.

That's a good one, really good at that. Lemme try another

Narrator: It was a dark and foggy night as the young couple drove home
Sarah: Do you think Jamey looks better than me?
David: Oh hell, this crap again? I thought we cleared ourselves with this, I'm attracted to you and only you, got that?
Sarah: What's that supposed to mean? Are you not taking me serious? Am I not good enough for you any more Mr. Big shot ego trip? Do you think my tits are too small? Am I fat?
David: Great, the weight thing again, I mean what I say. I am happy with you.
Sarah: Only happy? I don't make you feel like your whole life would be worthless without me? I thought I meant something to you.
Narrator: David, unsuspectingly, turned his head to look at Sarah.
David: Look woman, I've got news for you, I'm having an affair alright, but it's not with anyone you think.
Sarah: I knew it, you sleazball scum who is she, who? Damn you, who?
David: It's not what you think, you've driven me to do this, you've made me start dating...
Dun Dun Dun
David: Your brother

Husband: Honey! Dinner's served!

30 minutes later...

Wife: Oh, this was a lovely dinner, my loved. But I just can't manage to eat the last chicken meatpiece. Perhaps we should give some to Fido? Fido!!!

Husband: Haha, that dog.. Well, where can she be? *Sarcastic voice*

Wife: Fido!! Where are my darling! FIDO!!!

Husband: You know, that's not chicken, sweetie..

DUN DUN DUN DUN

Husband: *Holds up Fidos cut offed head and draws a vicous knife and smiles*

I like most music, generally not cheesy pop or recent pop, I can handle 80's pop though. Even if i'm not a massive fan of a genre I'll still give it a try, there's bound to be something to learn from everything. (With the exception of punk) :D

Until recentley I hadn't played any Irish music, I've gotta say though, it kicks ass! Shame I couldn't get drunk and listen to someone else play it :(

I'm mainly a metal head though, like most of the members on the forum.

By the way, it has to be said again, you guys are crazy. :D

Well the way I see it, hardcore is not, by it self, a music genre.
The word hardcore means "extremely explicit, and thats pretty much how any
person would describe the bands currently playing hardcore.
But let us not forget that 40 years ago, The Beatles was hardcore.
After that it was punk, moved on to metal, and that brings us up to date.
But generallt, metal is somewhat "lighter", hardcore has a more screamy feel to it.

Some of these categories are a tad broad, like soul and jazz. With Soul, there's the good stuff like early Motown, Stax/Atlantic artists like Wilson Pickett, 70s funk and even some of the 70s Philly sounds. Then there's all this watered down cak under the R n B label like Usher and R Kelly who arent fit to lick sh*t of the shoes of Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye.

There are also a huge number of jazz styles ranging from crappy soul jazz/smooth jazz that you hear in cocktail lounges and (not that I go to these much) through jazz fusion to pure jazz styles e.g bebop, post bop..

Even with techno, you can find cheesy 'House' for the Ibiza crowd e.g Venga boys and that crappy Euro-trance at one end and at the other you can find classy stuff like Sasha and Digweed's Northern Exposure albums, Orbital and Underworld.
