kinda ironic subject actually since i cant put my whammy anywhere.

anyway, thansk for the guys who replied but a couple of things
1) I use 009's and still my bc rich tremolo comes way up
2) I gave the strings loads of slack, still it comes up
3) the thing i noticed about he back is that there was only 2 springs going through it...this is probably the problam..but how do iadd more springs?

but that doesnt also solve the mystery of why when i bought it was the tremolo bar fine, and when i restrung it with what i thought were the same gauge strings did it go up? strange...

anyway, thanks for the replies

Then probably it was strung to .008's !

Get another spring , and your problem will be solved (I hope so) ... You may also need some fine adjustment for the screws holding the springs after that.

My friend had exactly the same issue in his Jackson just a couple of days ago. He also had only two springs in it and I told him to get the third in there. He bought the extra spring and I did the setup and it came out fine I think.
The adjusting screws in the cavity had to be set of course.
We also adjusted the hight of the bridge.

BTW he's had .009's all the time. He just changed the strings and the bridge jumped up mysteriously although
the string gauge stayed the same.

thanks for the response guys...i put in a third spring but the bar didnt even move! i was like :( :( :(

but i can add another two if i want, the question is...do i wait until i restring to add the other two? or can i just slap them in now?

when i put in the third i screwed the screws inwards to put pressure on the springs but that didn't help out, it did not move...so obviously i need much more pull on it...i guess ill have to wait until i restring again though, yeah?

also can you give me some info on what you mean by adjusting the bridge and how you set the adjustable screws inside? if it helps my e-mail is lates_dude@hotmail.com

any more help is more than welcomed! :) thanks

Displacer - Dude , I suggest you take your guitar to a guitar tech ... Probably you might find someone experienced with Floyd Roses at the store where you got your axe.

Then he must have changed the lower strings gauge , from .042 to .046 or something ... FR bridges don't jump out without reasons ;) .

whoa whoa...

it makes a diference if the E string is 0.46? my E is always 0.46...is that the problem??

the low E i mean, the thick one

Sure man , as any string gauge increase , the tension increase dragging the bridge upwards... And when you say the E is .046 instead of .042 you're usualy refering that all three lower strings are of higher gauge , which cause more tension fo sure.

Do you know that your tuning may affect this too ? If you used a heavy gauge like .010 or .011 , tuning you're guitar to D or C# with the bridge in right position , then you changed your mind and tuned to standard E , the bridge will pump out for sure... And vice versa.

But you say your E was always .046 , which still don't answer the question which is why the bridge jumped out ?
Was this the first time you change strings on this particular guitar , I mean are you deadsure of the strings' gauge before you re-strung it ?

I guess it could've been .046's instead of .042's. I was sitting next to him when he changed them and remember that they were .042's but I didn't pay that much attention to it. BUT he bought a set of DR .009-.042's and that's when the bridge jumped up. He broke two of them and after that he took them all off, bought another set, this time D'Addarios and brought the guitar to me to setup. Funny
thing, you wouldn't think the bridge would behave like that,
would you.:)
Thanks

I would have done the same thing if you put DR strings on me too... I am not a big fan of those....

So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

D'addario...maybe i should try them, heard they were good...pricy though

i have tried with both the BC rich and the Ibanez F1 with Ernie ball and Fender strings...every time i string the bridge goes up

with the BC rich im not sure what gauge the strings were at first...the gauges i use are something like (from thick to thin) 046, 036, 0xx, 0xx, 011, 009 (cant remmeber the d and g right now)
on the back of the pack it says all sorts of bands use thm, but none of them have trouble like me :(

asking everywhere, but no solution is arising :(

thanks for the help anyway

SLY...That must be it.:)

Dispy... I'm using Ernie Ball .010-.046s myself and got to have 4 springs in the bridge. When I use .009-.042s I only use three of them. This is my own easy setup while wandering through different gauges. You might try the fourth one and I believe it solves the issue although I think your problem could be solved also by doing a proper setup and using three springs.
Thanks

i got it done

i posted a message on some messageboard that ad absolutely nothing to do with guitars and someone helped me out, talk about pure luck!

they told me to tune down the strings until they were a step or two out of tune, then when their lose tighten the screws in the cavity, alas this worked! i was like 'woohoo!!'

now im having trouble tuning from E to drop D but thats okay considering my strings are not an inch off the fretboard and i can actually use my whammy bar now :)

thanks for all the help too!

sorry this reply is late........but I have been a fan of BC Rich guitars all my life...and recently I moved to California wher BC Rich guitars are made and I have all my work on my Warlock done there......and a main reason why your FR tremolo is sitting high is because BC Rich guitars come factory with 10 gauge strings on them.........they use to come with 9's but now they come with 10's so if you do not know horw to re alignthe bridge I would take it to a guitar tech and have them do it......because I had BC Rich do mine and I can drop down to any tunning i want......
