Whose's better
I was wondering who thinks buckethead is a better guitarist than Slash? I do, I heard his album at school and was complety blown away, and then I seen him play at the vma or some junk, and he was awsome.

Buckethead is WAY better. HeĀ“s twice as fast and Slash and yet have the feel but Slash has done some amazing stuff wich is better sounding than any of Bucketheads but definitlly, Buckethead is better.

Like Dejan said, Buckethead is technically better, from what I've seen anyway, but I agree that Slash played with more feeling.
Still, if they were pitted against each other, I think Slash could surprise us.

Amen to that trendkillah. SLASH IS THE ONLY ONE. Evryone knows that except a pinhead called W. Axl (fu*ckinĀ“) Rose.
I just want Steven our Matt (dosenĀ“t really matter), Duff, Izzy and Slash back along with the amazing voice of mr. W. Axl Rose.

Guns and Roses just isn't the same without the original members. Slash is a great guitarist and Buckethead is also great. I like Slash because he plays like a normal person like you dont have to be a god to play like him. but Buckethead has a way of putting you into certain moods like listen to Binge And Grab and then listen to Angel Monster. But as far as Buckethead with GnR its a waste of his time and talent Axls all washed up

Ok, lemme start off by saying that I am probably the most biased person when it would comes to this question. Slash is my hero and favorite guitarist, if it weren't for him, I'd've never picked up an axe. I'm very happy that the new Guns washed up cuz Axl can't keep his sh*t together. I was dreading them getting off to a start, cause for true gnr fans anything short of an original member reunion would be totally unexceptable. Having said all that I must admit that I haven't even listened to any of buckethead's work, I just figured the guy was a gimmick wearing a raincoat and a KFC bucket on his head, and covering Slash's material. But now that I see you guys giving him some props I'm gonna check out some of his work to see what the fuss is all about. I'll report back later.

Em... Slash!!! Hes like the most iconic guitar hero in the world, responsible for one of the most successful albums of all time.
Hes amazing at jamming in blues and spanish styles and with many other artists of differing genres!!!
If i was Buckethead Id be embarassed to stand up on stage covering another guitarists songs!!

I haven't heard much of Buckethead's stuff but was very disappointed when I heard a new Guns'N'Roses live rendition of Paradise city. I thought that Bucketheads playing was very fast and fluid but completely lacked emotion and sounded a bit sterile. Although that was nothing compaired with how truely awful Axl's voice sounded!

Goes different from person to person...Nowadays new guitarists just look for speed and skills...You need the emotion and have to fit the band...
Can someone honestly tell me why a dude with a KFC bucket on his head fits in an early 90's hair band?
Slash isnt the greatest guitarist, but he has soul and emotion. No guitarist can replace him in that band.

MacAlpine can also play Chopin (classical piano shredding) as well as anyone. It's ****in' sickening man! Try "edge of insanity". That said, MacAlpine can bore the crap outa me sometimes, depends on the song, they can't all be as great as his best tracks can they? How about EVOLUTION, that's just awesome.
Shawn Lane and Holdsworth are totally awesome but I'm yet to hear any that I'd regard as particularly emotional; any recomendations? Holdsworth by the way has some of the weirdest cleverest phrasing of anybody, his tone's unique (and excellent) and his legato's so good it makes me SICK.

If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

Aiwass, just a question?
What exactly is "playing with emotion"?
In my experience its more than just playing a blues bend and squinting a bit, perhaps bending your knees. If theres one thing I hate its guitarists talking about who plays with more emotion...it immediately gives the impression they have no idea what theyre talking about. Im not having a go at you but music should be about you and the emotions a solo brings out in you, not the player. **** the player, it makes no difference how much hes feeling it on stage, if it doesnt touch you then its nothing.

Alright, so I checked out a bunch of buckethead songs, downloaded some videos, and I must admit I was blown away. I guess my problem was that being the huge gnr fan that I am, I saw buckethead as a threat. For me, no one can replace Slash for gnr. However, since the "new" gnr isn't going to pan out anyways, it all works out. Buckethead is an incredible guitarist, just not a good fit with Axl in my opinion. The dude is nuttier than squirrel sh*t, but that's way cool with me. And whoever mentioned the ballad of buckethead was right. That song is really funny.

Couldnt of said it better! Picking someone for pure ability over soul and passion is like picking Malstreem over Hendrix. Sure Malstreem is different good and great but Hendrix was the meat and potateos! Same for this case....sure bucketthead is probably the worlds most expensive cover band guitarist now, hes no slash, infact, Slash was making his bones when Buckethead was screwing sheep i bet....beside their also something to be said for persona. Slash had that dirty, grunge, kick ass, J D drinking persona that is cool and bucket head....well he wears a kentucky fried chicken hat...im sure if i gave my three year old brother a kfc hat he could do the same thing! (except the guitar part of course :()
WWSD? What would stevie do?

Exactly man, we're trying to compare the proverbial apples and oranges.
Is there even a new gnr? I heard their tour got cancelled, and I just figured that the whole "rebirth" thing fizzled out.

I knew the new gnr wasn't going to be anything. Without Slash, they wouldn't be anything, plus Axl can never get his **** together.
