Hi. I'm new. I just watched a Andy Gurley clip. He was playing a G chord then a C chord. The C chord had a shape I've not seen before. It looked like a G chord only moved to d 2nd fret, a third fret, b third fret and e third fret. Is that right? MM

Yes, you can often use it instead of C major. You will of course alter the sound a bit, and sometimes it may sound out of place - especially if all the other chords are standard "cowboy chords" with no embellishments or extensions (like the 9 note in Cadd9).
