Trading in all my pedals and getting a Boss GT-10. There is a used one I'm going to purchase at a local store. Basically, going to be doing a swap!

I was thinking today (as I go in the opposite direction) if your sound's going to be buffered, it makes sense to only buffer it once. There is (imo) a lot to be said for going GT 10 or a good board like it.

Myself, I just went down today and bought a DC Brick for my pedals (and pedal expansion).

Hey, and if you get to swap out, that's awesome. Hope you don't miss 'em!
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.

Buffered????

That's a new term on me regarding guitar audio.

As far as missing? I have them all boxed up in their individual boxes. I miss them already and am HIGHLY contemplating taking my Jackson Guitar in instead.

I think the thing that gets me the most is the fact that almost all them have been modded.

Yeah, that would bum me out.

[QUOTE=RickBlacker]Buffered????

The difference between true bypass and buffered. Basically (in the worst case) buffered is a digital sample of your guitar. Without a true bypass, you never run outside the circuit board that provides the effect. Best you get is a sample of what you put in.

That's a pretty blase description, but basically that's it.

Best case, it's running your sound through it's circuits and then outputs as originally as you can expect.

Anyone feel free to educate me, but to me a buffered sample digitalizes that very thing you really would have wanted to analogue.

Well, regardless of buffering and what that means.
I'm now sitting in analysis paralysis.... I don't really want to give up my pedals, but at the same time, i don't need them.

Two weeks ago before I adjusted the action on my Jackson and raised it, I would have given it up in a heartbeat, but now, that the tone on it is so much better, I'm not sure I want to part ways with it either, plus the sentimental aspect that it was my first electric.

Well..I pulled the plug.

It cost me
1 Jackson Guitar
1 Boss RC2 Looper

Didn't need the looper anymore considering the GT-10 has a looper in it, nor did I ever use the RC2 loop pedal anyway. Gonna miss the Jackson because of sentimental reasons. But, No since in having a guitar that just sat. The GT-10 will get used daily.

The good news is... I still have all my other pedals!!!! :p

OH MAN!!! This is a family friendly place so I can't use Sentence Enhancers (<--credit Sponge Bob) here to explain how incredible this GT-10 is. But I will say this much. It has some HUGE BRASS BAWLZ!

This thing friggen RAWKS! Well worth getting rid of the Jackson and the RC2 pedal. I'm feeling extremely giddy inside!

Never heard that. I'm missing some serious culture. Glad you like your board! (is it generically referred to as a 'board'?)

Mind you... I have kids, but you do know who sponge bob is yes?
If not, it's a cartoon character on one of the cartoon channels. There was an episode with him and one of the co-characters and foul language. And in it, the foul language was referred to as sentence enhancers. :D

Oh and despite the "mind you" from above? I must confess, it's a fun cartoon to watch. It's the only one of the shows that they watch that i actually can sit down with them and enjoy.

That thing really looks nice... found this picture:

www.altomusic.com/altoweb/images/products/100/1006/GT10-0.jpg

My only journey into effects so far is a little usb box to plug my guitar to the computer and the Guitar Rig 4 software from Native Instruments.

Just curious, how much did you pay for that thing (or would have if you had not traded for it)? I found a shop putting at at $500.

It also has a USB port so that might be an interesting thing to integrate into my current setup. I'm wondering if the pedals information are recognized on the PC and could be used in software like Guitar Rig that does have support for pedals connected to the PC.

To my knowledge, there are no VST plugin's for the GT10, which is what you would need for tone adjusting in a DAW. Maybe GuitarRig has some kind of ability to read directly from the GT10, not sure.

There is 3rd party software for the GT10. I'm using it and find it useful. However, I'm also getting rather used to the built in functionality of the on-board screen and menus. It's not that difficult once you get the hang of it.

As far as price? Yes, $500 seems to be the going price. you might be able to find it cheaper if you do an internet search, but, i wouldn't expect much of a difference in price.

Having said that, i've read rumors about the new version of the GT10 coming out next year, so if you wait, there is always that chance that the GT10 will come down in price. I know I'll be looking at the new version and possibly selling my GT10 and getting what ever the next model is... The GT12??? I think they skip odd numbers.
