Need info on Behringer
Okay I am strapped for cash and I need a new guitar that is mildly affordable. I play mostly extreme metal, and I've been looking around have found that Behringer seems pretty affordable. Soooo what's the word on Behringer?

For general gear they are fine, great value (decent pedals and hardware). Far from top of the range but that's to be expected. As far as getting a guitar goes though I would look at something else (wan't aware that they even made guitars). What's your budget?

I am very strapped for cash now, but I was thinking about doing a layaway thing. I want to aim for a higher class of guitar definitely, something with an action that isn't terribly high, with a fast neck of course...don't know about pickups or anything yet, but I'd definitely want something heavy, as of course I am predominantly a metal guitarist. I am looking at anything from 250-600 dollars.

For metal, good quality (low action, tremelo system and good quality build) and low cost I would recommend Ibanez. You can't go wrong with this brand, when you get to a certain level you can always upgrade the pickups to personal preference. However, if you are able to stretch toward the $600 end you should be able to pick up a second hand Ibanez Prestige or a good RG model - these are excellent pro-level guitars (again you can change the pickups from stock whenever you know what you want in tone).

Thanks for the info man I'll look into that. Actually a local music shop gave tickets to prefered customers to go this Sunday, and apparently they are having a massive fifty percent off everything sale, so I'll check that out then.

Hahahaha so I've learned Behringers are a no no as far as guitar is concerned. For the longest time I had an unfounded distaste for Ibanez, but in this forum it was suggested that I try one out, so I played around with one for a bit at a music store and I gotta say, not too bad at all. I think I'm gonna go with the Ibanez RG350MDX Electric Guitar

Try the new Kramer line. I've heard very good things about the Kramer Strikers. They are very innexpensive. Never seen one in person but have heard decent things.

Thatās funny. I was reading about those two guitars today and then I come here and I find this thread.
Ibanez guitars have come a long way. Many years ago I wouldnāt even consider buying one.
But nowadays , they rank at the top of guitar makers.
I have played an Ibanez RG350MDX, and I like it.
The pickup configuration is HSH, the Edge III tremolo system keeps it tuned for days and the Wizard II neck is really easy on your fretting hand.
I was looking for a guitar with 24 frets and equipped with a good set of pickups and a Floyd Rose system and I came across the Kramer Striker Custom FR-424CM.
Looks great, good reviews for the most part, but I have to say that I was not familiar with the pickups it has. (Quad Rails) So, I did a quick research and I learned that each pickup features 2 humbuckers or 4 coils.
Then I went to Youtube and I saw some demos. Screaming hot tone and good definition coming out of that guitar. Iām dying to play one of those guitars.
For the same price range I saw the Peavey Predator Plus EXP.
Equipped with a licensed Floyd Rose and standard humbuckers, it doesnāt have 24 frets though.
I am fed up with my Strat due to intonation problems, so I am considering on buying one of those three guitars.

If you get the striker, I'd love to hear your thoughs on it. I was one click of the mouse away from buying it. However, when I went to buy it, there were none available from anyone. So, I ended up getting the Jackson Dinky DXMG instead.

250-600 will get you a fairly decent guitar from any number of makers out there. Ibanez, ESP, Schecter, BC Rich, Dean, Michael Kelly, Epiphone, Washburn, Jackson...
In my own particular case, the main details I'd be looking for in a "Metal" guitar, is Humbuckers, 24 frets and a Floyd Rose-style Locking Whammy. All of those things can be found in a number of models offered by the makers listed above. You really shouldn't have much trouble at all finding something in the sub-$600 range that will work for you and last for plenty of years. My two main guitars are a Squire that I got for $125 and a Dean 7 string that I picked up for just under $300. A few tweaks here & there and I've been very happy with them for several years now.
There's really no shortage of good, low priced metal guitars out there these days....You shouldn't have to look too far to find something in that range that you mentioned.
Best of luck to ya.
