Hopefully the "tough guy" comment was a joke... I was half joking. I just think its funny that Yankee fans can be found in numbers in all corners of the country. Not to mention, many people like them just because thats who everyone else likes. And before you freak, I'm not doubting your baseball knowledge.

Just a personal believer in having at least semi-regional sports team loyalty. But thats just me. Probably I created that belief due to my incredible hatred for the Yankees.

I like who my dad likes also. So I'd say you've got a legit excuse for liking a team a couple thousand miles away, as I'm sure I'd do the same. :)

I have regional taste when it comes to college teams (UNM, NMSU), NFL (Broncos), NBA (Nuggets). but if you remember Denver didn't have an MLB team til what 10-15 years ago, I really don't care. The first little League team I played on was called the Yankees. My dad got me a Mantle Baseball card when I was 7. I still have it right here on my PC desk. I have my reasons for liking the Yankees and when someone questions that (which is ridiculus to begin with) it pisses me off something furious.

In my defense, there are A LOT of arrogant friggin Yankee fans. My entire family, aside from my dad, sister, and myself are Yankee fans. Being a Mets fan, they like to give me hell about it. The 2000 World Series was not my finest point in life. The only worse fans than Yankee fans, are Boston fans.

I've got just as many reasons to hate the Yanks as you do for liking them, so I'd say its fair to say it pisses me off also when I see fans of them half way across the country. Funny when people say they're Yankee fans and the only player they know is Derek Jeter. Or the people who have heard of Jeter and not Jackie Robinson. As passionate as you are about them though, I won't think of heaping you in with that bunch.

Most Cubs fans and Yankees fans go together really well...

Magic, you sound legit and I have no problem with legit fans that are fans for a reason.....

But around here, you have two kinds of fans. Baseball fans.... which are usually bleeding blue 10th generation Cubs fans... or Sox fans... Then you have the "It's cool to be a Cubs fan" fan...... and I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate that. I have respect for people that are Cubs fans for a reason... but to be a fan just because you like their blue hats or just ebcause all your friends like them is absurd to me...

I have a friend that is a Yankees fan... the only reason he is a Yankees fan is because they have won almost 25% of the World Series' that have been played.... and HATE that about him... I think it's hilarious that the Yankees haven't won a WS since they added the 200 Million dollar man... Alex Rodriguez to their line up.... even though him and Jeter are two of my favorite baseball players... I still hate the Yankees because for me... I'm a 4th generation Sox fan... I've been to Wrigley field once... and it was to watch the Sox play. haha. Cuck the Fubs and Yuck the Fankees..... those are two very common phrases around the Southside bars. haha!!!

Just like music... To each his own... and you have to respect that.
