I just can't wait any longer......

GT, will you be my valentine? I have no one else to love me on this fine non-holiday.

I can't, Krisy'll get mad.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

10000 points for making me laugh with almost every post you make. (Even though this doesn't top your insane duck impression.)

Valentines Day is actually one of the only times of the year im glad to be single (Besides the fact that everyone else is getting some). All the corporate bulls**t they call valentines day.

"Krisy" spells her name wrong. And acapella, blow-up dolls don't have emotions like anger.

I must say I'm glad a good portion of our nation is snowed in today, That way a lot of loved ones can't see each other. I'm especially happy about the teenage girls that will be crying because they can't see their boyfriend because of one of the following:

a. He doesn't exist.
b. His mommy won't drive him over to come visit.

I woke up with a present in my pocket this morning... that sounds so bad, but I don't know how else to put it... so I'll be spending my day with that present.

Happy Valentines Day! Try not to get too upset at corporate America, those feelings are useless and cliche. :)

If you need Hallmark to remind you to care about those you profess to care about, you need to re-evaluate your feelings. Quite frankly, I find the entire notion of Valentines Day to be a total fraud and just more fleecing of the general public.

"If you don't buy me a card, chocolates and take me to a fancy restaurant, you must not love me." Seriously?

So when does the truck come to take us away to have our wool sheered? Baaa...baaaa...they manipulate us like we're stinkin' sheep.

Man, I loathe this so-called holiday.

Thanks. Have a nice day.

It's not so bad. I'm indifferent to it all and if anything should make meeting a desperate babe at a bar much easier tonight! :D

Yes, well, there's a lot to be said for maintaining familial harmony.

I don't think there's wrong with having a day to appreciate your significant other. Even if it is going to the wicked capitalist system. Plus, chocolate is good. ;)

In over 7 years, I've gotten my (now) wife flowers only once, and that was cuz she had the flu. I did give her a 4 leaf clover one time, which I thought had more sentiment, in that it took me well over 1/2 an hour looking in my yard to find one. So she doesn't really "expect" anything for Valentine's day, nor do I. That being said, I still bought her a soft robe she had her eye on and had it hanging on the shower when she woke up this morning. She appreciated it.

Capitalism sure beats feudalism though. I can't complain.

To each his own. It's a lot easier to appreciate love when you're in love, I suppose. When you've been away from it as long as I've been, it has that same feeling as trying to toss a dime into a dinner plate at a county fair. Yeah, you might get it once in a great while but for the most part, it's just a scam. Somewhere at some time, someone sprayed the dinner plate of love with cooking oil.

And yet we still reach into our pockets for another dime....how strange.

I used to think like that until this past Christmas. I was talking with my cousin on Christmas morning, and somehow the topic of Valentine's day came up. She said that she's never really had a good Valentine's day because every guy she's been with has shared your sentiment. They'd say "uh, it's a made-up holiday so it doesn't matter," and they'd spend the evening watching TV. It was right about then that I realized that a lot of guys are cynical buttholes. (And just to be clear, I'm not insulting you. :))

So even though Valentine's day in no way affects a single fella like me, I don't mind it. Anything that promotes love rather than fighting is fine by me.

I don't think there is a holiday that you couldn't call a "corporate holiday" anymore. I, too, always thought Valentine's Day was stupid, but I've changed my mind on that and a lot of other things in the last three months (as of Friday :) ). Now I figure that any day that gives you a reason to do something extra special for someone you care about is okay by me. Obviously you should do special things for someone you care about all the time, but there's nothing wrong with having a day to do something extra.

Immediately one comes to mind, and then I remembered I posted about it at some point. ;)

I don't really have a problem with the corporate nature of such things...it's the mindset that Hunter touched upon that drives it to begin with. It was nice to get my wife something because I wasn't obligated to. Last year I didn't do anything, at least material wise. When expectations outweigh appreciation, that's the problem. Same for Christmas.
