Hopefully this website will help me out... Have two acoustic, one electric, and one bass guitar but no skills! Hopefully I will be able to play more than just chords soon... If anyone has suggestions on the best place to start please let me know. Thanks!

been playing since the 70S and found that the better the guitar the better it sounds but you can get some good bargins on good quality re makes like epiphone ,les paul copys , ect i have one and played next to a real les paul could not tell the diffrence i payed $300. at the time for the copy and my friend had about 2,000 in to the real les paul now the copys are even less expensive i have seen them on sale at (guitar city )for 199.00 i am in michigan so i dont know if they have guitar city any where else

Hello All,

52 year old here.

Proud owner of a Cort flat top, Washburn 12 string flat top, Yamaha classical and a Squire Strat. Owned a 78 Les Paul Custom but sold it to buy camera equipment which I sold to help pay for kids schooling.

I have been a guitar fan for as long as I can remember.

Never really learned how to play any of them.

I have made a commitment to myself to learn. Only problem is I recently tore a rotator cuff in my right shoulder that will require surgery. Now I will not be able to play for 6-8 weeks or more.

At that time I will hit it again. I WILL LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR!

Until then I will read and watch vids and practice left hand tech.

Great site and I look forward to learning alot. Also glad to be a member.

Russell

I have two Epiphone guitars. One is electric and one is acoustic. My electric is an Epiphone Special II Model with the custom Sunburst finish. I'm not sure what model my acoustic is because I have never really bothered checking.

I am new to this sight and just started learning to play the electric guitar, I am an accomplished middle aged fellow with the desire for many years to learn the guitar. I started out with the sax when I was a kid and graduated to the tenor which I still love and a little drumming but am missing that guitar experience so here I go. My first guitar after hours of sitting at the store testing differnt makes and models I settled on a Schecter Hellraiser V1FR with the V body and a Line 6 150 watt amp and 4-12" cabinet so I can disturbe the neighbors anytime I want. Like I said I'm not worried about learning because I'm 55 and have the patience to sit and practice, have never failed at anything and love music! My name is Wes and I live near the coast of the pacific Ocean. Hope to meet some new friends! Wes

I'm a new member. I liked what I read here on a forum about having short fingers versus long or regular (I have short) and hoped I hadn't wasted my money when I bought a Calvin double-cutaway from a friend who is a well known blues guitarist (no, didn't ask him the following question...to shy, I guess) (if I'm saying that right) electric to learn how to play blues, which I love, ala Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, yada, yada.

My big question now (shoot first, then aim) is am I too old at 65 to learn how to play blues within a relatively short time (six months?). I used to play drums. but live in a condo now, so lost that option (can't imagine why).

Thoughts?
