been playing since the 70S and found that the better the guitar the better it sounds but you can get some good bargins on good quality re makes like epiphone ,les paul copys , ect i have one and played next to a real les paul could not tell the diffrence i payed $300. at the time for the copy and my friend had about 2,000 in to the real les paul now the copys are even less expensive i have seen them on sale at (guitar city )for 199.00 i am in michigan so i dont know if they have guitar city any where else
