In a band situation though I think a lot of times other band members will offer up ideas just to seem like they're "doing their part". I understand it can be frustrating to have others want to change your lyrics up... but that's just something that comes with being in a band. You wouldn't want to play a song that you weren't content with just like they wouldn't want to play a song that they're not content with. The best thing to do is to address the issue as a group. Tell them that it bothers you and get it out... It's never good to hold stuff like that in and let it come to a boil. Let them know how you feel and maybe they'll be more likely to think twice about their lyric critiques and changes before they suggest them... rahter than just throwing everything out there.

A band writing process is a lot different than a solo writing process though... It's a lot less productive unless you really click with the other people... and in that case you rarely disagree heavily on lyrics...

I hate it when people offer up stupid ideas though... that's the worse. If you're going to change my lyrics, try not to change it to something gay
You are right I guess Im being Selfish and stuborn, I try to work on opening up to suggestions Just as long as the song is good when it's done, That all that matter's.

I wasn't directly calling you stubborn or selfish... haha, but yeah, being open is pretty important in a band atmosphere.

I think in art and in music it's important to be a little selfish and stubborn about your own works... It's your work after all.

I have one, I have one. It really annoys me how these kids at my school have never really done anything in their lives, but think that they're "badass." Because they smoke, get drunk and puke, and claim to know how to fight. I don't believe I'm exaggerating when I say that I could kill them all with my bare hands. And if they went to school in the city, they'd all be slaughtered in a week. One of them is literally so stupid, he thought it was funny to rub a computer mouse on his hand and watch the mouse pointer move on the screen. Laughed out loud! Oh, the stories I could tell. But yeah. I do not like them.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

Kind of building off others ideas....

These teenagers who pretend that their lives revolve around smoking weed and drinking booze, and getting absolutely tanked. Then they always seem to have a digital camera at this party where they take stupid pictures of eachother while drunk. Never fails, cameras are always there, like its some kind of epic event that can't be forgot. "Yeah, I drank myself to oblivion and puked for a day! And I"VE GOT PICS!!!!" Yippee.

I don't know why this bothers me so much. I've really strove for staying away from any stereotype tied into the American teenager for the past 6 years of my life. In general, its a pretty lame crowd. Many can't think for themselves so they resort to such things. Even in college, I see the same thing. They do it because they think its normal.

Silly ****. Boggles my mind and pisses me off.

This thread goes back a ways, so I can't say if this has been raised before or not, but when they use 555 in phone #'s in movies or tv shows. Especially dramas/thrillers that are supposed to be more serious, it totally blows my suspension of disbelief for the moment. Happens on "24" all the time.

I know they supposedly have to do that so the 'tards that see a real # won't go, "huh huh, I'm gonna call that #...it'll be funny." But here's an idea (insert lightbulb smiley here)...set up a real # that answers with some lame recorded commercial. They might even make money by selling the "spots" for the right of sponsors' #'s getting used in their show.

Like acapella and grizzly said...I hate those people too.

I especially hate people that use drugs as an excuse to be dumbasses. 'Stoners' if i may. They are naturally retarded and go around acting (or being) stoned all the time to cover it up. ARRGGG!!!! I definately don't condone drugz or anything, but i know plenty of smart and intelligent people who partake, and haven't become retarded.

Well, I think you guys are being silly really. Nothing is wrong with taking pictures while getting hammered with friends, and laughing at how stupid you were acting and what not. Pictures are for memories no matter what one chooses there memories be.

I still hate pretentious people since we're on the topic of pet peeves.

Y'know, if they were doing silly things in those pics, it may be funny. But usually they're just making a point of having a drink in their hand and hugging some other person. I fail to see the humor in that somehow... Now if somebody is stark naked, on fire, and is being chased by a hurd of stampeding gazelle with a beer in their hand....now THATS funny.

I can't stand people who can't see the flaws in their own arguments, even when presented with them, to the point that they are essentially just ignoring everything you say and blindly carrying on. It seems worse that I was actually asked for my opinion - it seems he didn't want it afterall.

Obviously this is based on experience. The only thing worse was, the guy offered that 'we can always discuss it outside...' thing - and when I accepted, he suddenly lost confidence and hasn't spoken since... loser - seriously, dont threaten violence if you're not going to carry it through.

Whether it's valid or not I don't know, but to say I'm 'peeved' would be an understatement....

Dude, I have always found that the guy who wants to discuss things 'outside' is usually a chickensh*t who never expects anyone to accept. And you're right; most people talk to hear themselves make noise out of that hole in front of their heads. They don't care about your opinion. Like I always say, the most important skill that you can ever learn is how to listen. That will take you farther than anything else.

On the plus side, every time you see that guy just make a quick and sudden move towards him and watch him flinch. I love doing that. If you do it enough times, you turn that into a nice, Pavlovian response. Every time he sees you coming, he'll flinch. Maybe you can get him to scream and run away.... :D
