im 41 and my hands look about the same as yours, i would say on average my hands are just a little bit bigger then most womans hands, from what ive seen anyways and not to say some laddies dont have big hands, im sure they do
ive also tried to remove a few digits the index and middle finger of my fret hand and it causes me alot of pain at times but i try to play anyways

so i feel like most say if you want it bad enough just keep practicing you will pick it up
keep playin :)

With the echoes from the amplifiers
Ringing in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette

But when I watch to stretch then the skin between my fingers also seems to be limiting my range. Already at this stage where I cannot stretch very far the skin is already totally stretched and doesn't look like it could be stretched any further, maybe this is a limiting factor.

But from the picture, I think that the problem might lie with the thick neck...

Everybody says finger length doesn't matter, but I disagree. Obviously people with long fingers will be able to reach with more ease and comfort. I have pretty long fingers, so once I started playing a bit and got some strength and mobility in my fingers I didn't have any problems. If I had short fingers I think it would have taken me way longer to be get past that stage. That said, people with shorter fingers can kick ass at guitar, but I do believe that longer fingers are an advantage.
You go outside and practice screaming. We'll play music while you're gone.

I thought that initially as well, but I have pretty small hands and I can stretch them out pretty darn far. I think finger circumference is a bigger deal than length.

Yeah, that's what I mean, people with short fingers can learn to stretch them out. I still think that long ones make it easier.

Yes, this is true. There's more to guitar than being able to stretch out fingers though. Some jazz-type chords are really bunched together, and even I have trouble playing them with my small hands. I think there's something to be said for short fingers.

What do you mean circumference is important? Do you mean having thick fingers is better than having thin fingers?

Depends on whether you're a rhythm or lead player, and also what style of music you play. If you play rhythm, I think thick fingers would be better, as you would be able to cover two strings at once, and therefore have an extra finger to play different variations of the chord. I think thin fingers would be better for lead, because you would have better accuracy when hitting the strings.

Hmmmm...
this is exactly what I also thought! It's interesting that buck says the same thing. I also think that having "fat" fingers can be an advantage for example when you want to play a dropped tuning and want to play barrees with your pinky. I think having a fat pinky with a lots of mass makes it much easier to play a barree. The fatter and the more mass the better.
I wish my fingers were a bit fatter and not so totally skinny, they are only bones and skin. :(
And even if I add weight my fingers stay the same it's really strange. I could weigh 300 pounds and my fingers wouldn't change at all.
