This is a VERY subjective topic. It's like taking two people who like ham sandwichs. One of whom like his with ham, mayo, and mustard on white bread. While the other likes his with ham, lettuce, tomato, bacon, pesto mayo, and dijon mustard on a toasted bagget(sp?). Just because the later is more complicated and complex doesn't mean it's any better. It just means one person likes it more than the other. In the end they're both just ham sandwiches.

yeah sure everyones got there own choice, but how can you call yourself a chef if all you can do is put a slice of meat between two peices of bread? and then how can u expect to get paid to do that?
Flame all you want, but three chords does not make u a musician.

btw bille joe armstrong is an execption, though he only plays three or four chords per song, he can play harder stuff. I once saw him NAIL "ain't talking about love"

Who says that they can only play "3 chords." They play music that fits into the greenday picture. They know what the fans what. They have a lot of fans. So why change something thats working great. Weren't they dubbed the greatest band in the universe not to long ago or sum?

im not knocking bille joe. Maybe u didn't notice that in my post. I love greeday and bille joe is a good musician as well as guitarist.

and some bands, do only play simplistic chords. and guess what? thats all they can do. to keep going with the ham sandwitch analogy, there making a simple sandwitch which many people enjoy. But by no means can u call these people chefs.

Just to play devil's advocate again...even a chef's combination comes out to, well, a ham sandwhich. :)

Exactly! You're not makeing the sandwich for other chefs, you're making it for the person who is hungry.

I like ham sandwhiches... in fact, I've got some ham in my fridge right now which is just beckoning me to make a sandwhich out of it. I've also got some sandwhiches (ham, of course) in the fridge at my work, which I'm gonna take vengence upon them and devour them and their young... because I can. I'm a filthy person with a filthy mouth and an equally filthy mind so I don't see myself as above filthy food. What's that? it fell on the floor? so you're not going to eat it then. Good, more for me.

Of course this is coming from a guy who's dipped chocolate in ranch and enjoyed it.

Ranch is quite possibly the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Ahh...how we take stuff for granted. I can't imagine just loafed bread. Closest thing is like a sub sandwich, but even those are what...sliced down the middle. And c'mon, think of all the classics sliced bread has inspired: grilled cheese, variety of sandwiches, toast, french toast, the list goes on. It's a pretty epic invention.

I thought it was one of iiholly's random threads, and it just said "what do you think the greatest thing since sliced bread is?" or something... but I can't find it.
