Hey all, hope someone might be able to shed a light here....

I just upgraded from Pro Audio 9 to Sonar, did my first recording with it, and exported it as a .wav. When I try to burn that .wav to C.D., it keeps popping up this message saying "errors reported by output device". It's not the C.D. burner or the cd's b/c I tried burning a few other things I had recorded before and it worked fine.

I even tried importing the .wav I had recorded in Sonar back into Pro Audio 9 and exported the file to .wav, which has alway's worked before, but I got the same error message when I tried to burn it.

Anyone have any ideas on whats going on here?

I ran into a similar problem in Cubase. the wav file was being recorded into some kind of proprietary format. (shouldn't have been able to call it a .wav then, but it was). The 'wav' file was in surround with info tags or something and the .wav to disc converter didn't recognize it. Anyway, I found a setting to record audio in 'standard' .wav format so it may be something in the recording properties.

I had similar problems with sonar. Sonar exports the .wav files ass RIFFwav files (whatever that is). I use a converting program to change it to an .mp3, and it works fine that way.

Id export the .wav to the desktop and then use either itunes or Nero to burn it to a disk. If you import the .wav file into the itunes library first you will then have no problem listening to the wav file on a regular CD player.

You can find a PC version of iTunes below

make sure your wav files are the correct 44.1kHz bitrate...and i'm not sure but i think it's supposed to be 16 bit depth-rate?
okay...my post is done...goodbye.

At the risk of sounding silly ?
Sometimes I forget i've got software( drum loops etc ) in the CD rom drive and this can mess up the mixdown, or sometimes my PC already has its maximum amount of music - full up.

I tried burning it with Windows Media player and it worked fine....Guess it fixed it when in converts the file....Adaptec cd creator just didn't like the file I guess.

Thanks for the suggestions....

Cool, glad you got it to work. Sometimes it's just as simple as using a different program. I can't convert Sonar .wav files to mp3's with one converting program I use, but I can with another.

I use a program called 'Acoustica Audio converter pro' and it can convert .wav to .mp3 .wma or .ogg and vice versa. You can download it free with a week trial or somthing like that.....but there are ways to use it after the week trial ;)

Just thought I would add in that I have the exact same problem, when exporting wav's from sonar, programs have trouble opening them.

Real player loads it but wont play, shows the time length of the song but the play buttons are greyed out. Win Media player reports an errror. Roxio sound editor reports an error.

The only program I have that can open the wav is soundforge which luckily I can use to convert to a high quality MP3 which is readable by everything.
