I ran into a similar problem in Cubase. the wav file was being recorded into some kind of proprietary format. (shouldn't have been able to call it a .wav then, but it was). The 'wav' file was in surround with info tags or something and the .wav to disc converter didn't recognize it. Anyway, I found a setting to record audio in 'standard' .wav format so it may be something in the recording properties.
