Well, um...I guess most of what I have to say is kinda in the title of this post, so um...should I repeat it?I'll paraphrase though, maybe make myself a bit more clear...
having read, contributed and laughed a lot at Cryptics girlfriend post,I think we should hear from all female guitarists on this forum. :D

I'm a keymaster. Only thing is it's bent at an odd angle and doesn't fit in any of the keyholes.

I play a little... learning still. Hence why I am here. :)
I've been playing violin for a year.

This is my first post - so I guess I'll take the chance to say hello to everyone. ;)

HI there Renisenb, we are all still learning I guess, even though I have been playing for about 6years, I am on this forum for the same reasons as you.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

So back to the point of this thread... nice to know I'm not the only girl in here!
The violin forum I frequent is mostly old men who are violin makers. Interesting to hear them talk but sometimes a little over my head. I was on another guitar forum for a while which was full of teenagers who were helpful but fancied flaming. More of a guitar 'cult' than anything. This forum is the best I've seen yet. ;)

why is that?
and why are female guitarists less common than male guitarists?

I guess they just aren't interested in it. I am also really into cars. I love reading about the mechanics of them and I think it's amazing how some people can make their own turbochargers and such. I love watching drag strip videos... most girls could care less. The thing I enjoy most about going out is that I get to examine all the different cars and roll down my windows so I can hear a vette gun it at a light or something (Saw a viper do that once in a church parking lot! Hah! It was awesome.)

So I'm into lots of stuff most girls aren't into. Therefore I don't really count. :D

wait wait wait! whats this not counting business?

If you had read this post, you would know that any girl who plays guitar has been unanimously(how the hell do you spell that word?4 syllabels...what a challenge) declared as sexy...therefore, stop this not counting bollocks...you'll crush the dreams of every guitarist on this page if you tell us that all guitar-playing girls are really just female boys.

Sorry! I wasn't really trying to say that... in fact I'm not really sure what I was getting at...
Sexy, oh, that's funny! Because I have calluses on my fingertips? And because I think cars are cool? I thought only girls who liked sports or wore bikinis were put into the sexy category!

Edit: I'm not all boyish. I do actually have girly interests but they are simply not my primary interests...

So calluses do not prevent or discourage one from wearing bikinis?
Hahah... good grief, this is ridiculous.

id just like to stray a bit and say i love ghostbusters and i think that the guys who run this forum should get a ghostbusters smillie if that exists. Does anybody not agree? Speak now or forever hold your peace.

Can you elaborate more on where the values come into it? Not following you exactly there.
But I do see where the media plays a role. Usually if I turn on the television (which is a rarity) and see anyone playing a guitar, it's usually a guy.
EDIT: not trying to say the media is sexist, just pointing out that girls don't often involve themselves in it as guys do.
