I've been playing for quite some while, i started when my friend taught me the G chord but then that's all i learned from him. From then on, i teached myself, but i can only go so far. I played some mainstream music i liked, learned tab, and then i moved on to classical as i thought they would challenge me. oh and by the way, nice change in layout here.

but let see, to outline my troubles....
1. i can't read notes. = well i can, but it would take me a good few hours to transpose it in the guitar, thus i need to hear a song before being able to play it. i don't know that much theory at all, just knowing the basic notes.

2. Finger troubles= learning by myself, i've learned to stretch my 123 finger. but never my pinky, my pinky is really weak. also, in plucking, i never learned to luck with all fingers, but just my thumb and index finger.

3. Short attention span= i know about a good number of songs, but if their tabs, then most of them is just intro's and stuff. Sometimes my logic is "hey it just repeats from there, i know it" or "ah, that's the hardest in the song, so the rest would be easy, no need to learn them"

4. need a teacher, need to improve= another logic of mine is that, "hey, i know i can't do that, i'll move to an easier song" that's why sometimes i need someone to push me, my finger strength and speed increases gradually, but not enough.

so much i want to learn, i want to learn theory, how to play your own solos, the scales and importance of them to play in guitars, i have no idea what they are really. i just follow the tabs. i really want to learn the stuff.
anybody who experienced this stuff? and anybody who can help me out?
well thanks for taking your time to read my post, and if you can help, i would really appreciate it.

hey man,

there is one thing that you hafta know, getting better takes time, you cant find a lesson and learn it instantly and get better just by sight reading it. You gotta love to do it

Ok so first off, the pinky thing, that goes away over time. I'm on my sixth year of playing and it went away prolly 5th. What I would reccommend about that is just play with your pinky as much as possible. Also some begginner exercises here will give you some things you could do to warm up everyday before you fool around on the guitar, work on the begginner lessons until you can do them in your sleep. then move up a skill level. You can throw some licks and tricks in the mix too. :)

anyways, have fun, its all about the journey, and it always gets better, when you hit some road bumps later on. just keep playing, dont get pissed because it only makes you worse.

1) Reading notes is a simple process, but it takes a lot of time to get good at for gutiar(other instruments it's much easier). I suggest you find a classical guitarist and ask them to teach you the beginning of music notation reading.

2) the pinky-this takes time. When learning something watch your hands and when you see something your pinky can do and will prolly be better for. Then use it and work on it.

3) only answer is motivate yourself

4) umm find a teacher

Music theory. You must ask one question at a time. So what excatly do you wanna know about it?
I can't help it. When I get an idea that excites me it's as if I can't breath unless I make it real.
