Los lonely boys are hope that music still has a chance..they have a great live show and stay true to their roots. Thats a band thats coming out that has a future ahead of them and considerin they collaborated with Willie Nelson who is a respectable musician who believed in tem. Unlike your band linkin park who i believe juss collaborated with *cough* Jay-z.....was it the music that brought them together or the fat paycheque thats waitin for them at the end of the show. Linkin Park and Jay-z are both sell-outs.

I would like Linkin Park more if all their songs didn't sound exactly the same to me.
I want the bomb
I want the P-funk!

My band is better than yours...

Call me crazy but I thought whisky in a jar was a cover of an old blues or country song

In no particular order, and my list might change t'mmw....

Europa, Live- Santana

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Live- Dickey & Duane just smoke on this

Layla- Clapton's voice & Duane's lead- amazing

White Room-Cream; Clapton during his peak, imo

Sultans of Swing- Dire Straits; first time I heard this, thought it was Bob Dylan singing, lol. Knopfler knocked my socks off with his lead. Still does.

Zep- a buncha their songs; just a great rock band that sounds great with the volume cranked up. And Page isn't even one of my fav. guitarists.

Hendrix- Angel; Hendrix is Hendrix. 'nuff said.

Boody Sunday- U2; one of the few bands I listen to NOT for the lead work. Edge is such an incredible rhythm player.

Start Me Up- Keith Richards is such an underrated rhythm player. 2 chords, and what a hook. Jagger's voice never did much for me tho...

No songs in particuar, but some other players that blow me away: Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, BB King, Roy Buchanan, George Benson (his non-pop stuff), Steve Howe, SRV. Paco de Lucia (!).
Silimtao-The Way of the Little Idea

I want to die peacefully like my grandfather. Unlike the other passengers in the car, screaming and crying. (unknown)

BTW...linkin park sucks, they're bull****!!! come on be reallyst it isnt complex music...all that hip hop n rap stuff that aint even music!!!, plus allways sound the same ...anyway this is me, i dont like them.

So that explains why they write such complex songs and go multi platinum

Everyone says hes whines to much or whatever but he sounds more like lane staenly to me if you even know who that is.

Ok, im sorry but i feel the need to defend linkin park whenever someone disses them.
Obviously the people that say that all their songs sound the same have not heard there whole albums. Listen to "points of authority" "crawling" "easier to run" and "pushing me away" Yes, some songs sound similar on their first album but over the years they have grown into such talented artists.

Listen to "my december" from them, its is such a beautiful song and just because it isnt full of amazing guitar solos does not mean it didn't take alot of work and talent to make it. Chester Bennington is one of the best songwriters ever, just read the lyrics to their songs and you will see. BTW he has an amazing voice, id like to see anyone be able to sing like him.

This band works their asses of, they spent over two years making the meteora album and the time and work totally shows in it. Everysingle song on the album is amazing, not like alot of bands that only have 3 hits and the rest of their songs are ****.

I know not everyone has the same taste in music, there are bands out there that i really dont like *cough* alexisonfire *cough* but i atleast give them credit for what they are doing, they must have some talent for them to get this far. So all i am saying is give linkin park credit cuz really they are a kickass band if you listen to them.

ahh now that I have let that all out :)
Id have to say that I am a big Hendrix and led zepplin fan. Oh and i am starting to fall in love with Def Leppard :) Two steps behind is an awsome song

You must not be aware that rap and hip hop music are the samething as rock music. The only defining difference is that rappers have changed the way the music sounds. Achived by altering a few aspects of the music (like playing the rhythm on the vocals instead of the melody.) Aren't we all always striving to come up with more original sounds in music?

Anyways the songs that I am talking about by them never play exactly the same thing in each section. Does your music do this? If it does then congratulations. I strive to write such interesting sections without sacrificing the coolness of it for interest. That fine if you don't like them, but they are talented.

Rhythm on the vocals isn't new by any means. Anyone else remember the Beatles ?

Improvisation isn't new by any means. Charlie Parker ring a bell?

They are not original, you just haven't heard enough music.

P.S- Slimtao, I'm not a classical/jazz freak only, I'm the biggest Beatles fan you'll probably ever see

Having seen POD play live, no, you don't need talent to get fairly far along in the music biz.

Those guys can't even play in time with eachother.

The beatles were on my top 10 list...

... I listened to no one else but them for at least a year when I was 16-17

Of course all melodies have some type of rhythm. Its impossible not to. Not all rhythms have melodies. I will attempt to illustrate. Do drums have a melody? No. Do rap vocals have a melody? No. Do drums play the rhythm? Yes. Do rap vocals play the rhythm? Yes.

Please cite a Beatles song where the vocals are playing a drumming part. I will get my cd and reference it because I don't recall hearing such a song. I only remember melodic vocal phrasing in Beatles songs.

I assure you that I have heard enough music. If I were to bet; I would say more then you.

Thnx dude :D Metal is the best, in my opinion.

Just for the record, both Jay z and Linkin Park (Stinkin park) suck. and as it was said before, both of them collaborated for the easy pay cheques at the end of it.

For the love of god!!! I boght a linking park cd when I saw their first single "one step closer" on mtv, coz it didnt have any rap parts, then when i listened to the whole album I realize they were garbage, and I changed it for a liquid tension cd (Experimet II), and now with that stuff with jay z i hate them more. And come on we all are at a guitarrists forum we ALL know that guitarrist whatever his name is sucks, and you have accept that all their songs sound just the same!!!

but WTF! they are so bad that they dont deserve us to keep on disscusin about them...and this is a big world where everyone fits, even bad bands, bad tastes.

Heavy metal until death!!!

Here Here!!! :) i did exactly what you did my friend. i saw on mtv, one step closer and i went and got the album, listened to it, and haven't looked back. i never expected it to be a rock rap album. had i have known that there was rap on it, i wouldn't have got it as i destest rap music in any form. all that made me do was to listen to a couple of songs from a band before buying there album

btw, the guitarists name is Phoenix, and yes he is very predictable in his playing. drop d tuning, and hammer that Low E string. dull indeed...... :(

BAH whatever, I love Linkin Park to death! yeah sure they dont have interesting guitar solos but who the hell cares, their music is appealing to millions of fans and they have some of the greatest lyrics i have ever heard. Lets see if you can write better songs then them. If you dont like them the shut up, i dont like some heavy metal bands but do i go around and diss them?? no, so how about you GROW UP and if you dont like a band then just leave them alone

:)

BTW The Beatles kick ass muahaha i love the song "come together"
