Description

One of the most useful skills to have as a guitarist is the ability to learn a new lick and then use that lick as a template for countless variations on that same idea. This is a true lightbulb moment for players, and there are few things that will do more for your creativity and soloing than mastering this skill.

I’ll be using my Gretsch Duo jet for these examples with a fair amount of overdrive coming from the amp being turned up really loud and supported by one of my overdrive pedals here on the board. I also use a little bit of reverb, but as always it’s important to remember that you can use any gear you have to play these examples.
