Description
In this lesson I introduce the concept of identifying chord progressions. The first method to use is to identify the bass motion of the chords. Next you listen for the chord quality. There are stereotypical chord progressions that are used over and again. So, learning the sound of those basic progressions is a great way to start to learn this aural skill. In this lesson I focus on listen for the bass motion of the chords in a progression. We label chord progressions using Roman Numerals. The numbers are based on the harmonies created from building chords on the major and minor scales. That concept is covered in depth in these tutorials.
