In this tutorial we are going to learn how to play "Dirt Road Anthem" as performed by Jason Aldean. This unique mash up of country and hip hop is a great song that at its core, is a very simple chord progression that repeats throughout the entire song. The studio recording features several guitars and other stringed instruments playing throughout, but for this tutorial we are going to focus on playing along with a single guitar so you can play along with a band, with just a singer, or solo on your own. This single guitar approach is a great way to enjoy this song with others or on your own.

Using an acoustic guitar, I am going to show you all the different parts of the song and how you can play along following the dynamics of the band and as always, working to serve the story of the song. We will be playing the open chords you play during the chorus, the muted acoustic parts during the verses, as well as that signature lick that ends each part.

There are two guitar solos in the song, and I encourage anyone if you're interested to dig in and learn those if you want to learn some very easy, but effective, bending solo licks. However, for this tutorial we are sticking to an acoustic, single guitar version so those won't be covered. I will also vary up the arrangement slightly to accommodate not having the guitar solos in our version. We will however have a full backing track to guide us through the song along with all the vocal parts and those signature hip hop verses.

"Dirt Road Anthem" is in the Key of B minor at a tempo of 128 BPM and in 4/4 time.
