Description
You learned earlier that the basic major or minor chord consists of 3 notes and is therefore called a "triad". These 3 notes convey the most basic information, and then you've seen how adding a dominant 7 note to it can add extra tension.
There are many more notes that you can add like that and because when they're added to the basic triad they're called "extensions". The kinds of chords and sound you get from that are much more common in other styles of music than rock, but they do occur from time to time, and they can be a fun tool to have your your toolbox. So in this tutorial we'll explore some extensions and more advanced chords used in rock.
