Description
In the chorus both guitars break loose from the jazzy riffs to hold down some solid rockin' 8th notes. Both guitars are playing the same part which create a nice wall of 8th notes that can match the intensity of the verses.
In the verses, there's a more complex, jazz oriented approach to the chords and harmony. That's one area where The Police broke new ground, but then they would shift gears and go into a section of raw, "punky" rock. Just when the listener's attention was into the rock vibe, they'd shift to a quiet reggae feel- always keeping the listener engaged.
