Now that we've established how far you can get with some very simple playing and a solid internal rhythm, it's time to start carefully building on that foundation. You'll notice that a lot of players just play straight through underneath the vocal phrases, and that's of course alright, but it can often be great to simplify your playing whenever there's a vocal phrase happening and then play some more elaborate parts or fills if you want, in between the vocal phrases. So in this tutorial we'll explore some useful and fun ways to do just that, in the situations where you're using your pick. These tools can also be used for instrumental sections like intros, outros and solo sections, and it's really fun to explore the gray are between rhythm and lead playing.
