Description
Now it's time to try applying our 3/4 fingerpicking pattern to our other open chords. So far we've used the pattern on the middle 4 strings, so now let's try out a chord with the root note on the D string.
Grab your D minor chord, and let's apply the pattern to the top 4 strings. Now the D and the E string are the outside strings and the G and B string are the inside strings.
Next, let's try a chord with the root note on the low E-string, so grab your G major chord. Now we could of course apply the pattern to the low 4 strings. But as always notes that are close together tend to sound more messy down in the lower frequencies, so let's spread it out a bit, and use the low E string and the D, G and B strings. So the low E string and the B string are our outside strings and the D and G string are our inside strings.
But as always you can experience freely with picking your inside and outside strings as well as changing it up within the pattern.
