My fingers just can't remember it and i have to put them down one at a time.

Been doing specific G to C( tried the pinky G, it didnt work for me!!) But I am still having to put one finger down at a time! Even with the F chord im more consistant!!

Just needed a rant. Will keep practicing!! I will get there.

Hi chrispike306,

Be patient and you will get there for sure. If you're doing well with the F, just remember that the C is almost the same shape as the F. Perhaps thinking about it that way might help. Also, it takes time! You will get it. It's all muscle memory.

I believe in you!

Best,

Billy

Make sure to practise on your chords every day. 5-10mins of focused practise every day is a lot more worthwhile then doing it 1 day per week for 1 hour.

I'm sure you're gonna make it!

Yes!! Chord changes i spend about 10 minutes a day on. Some are quite good now (D to A and other straightforward ones like that) but C is frustrating me! I will keep trying.

Been timing myself too. Can do about 32 G to C to G changes in a minute. Got a spreadsheet. I like spreadsheets

The tempo is not important at your stage right now. Focus on getting the fingers 100% where they should be, 100% of the time. Training a "false" motion into your fingers by trying to speed up will slow you down on the long term. So try to resist the temptation of speeding up vs. sloppy form

One thing I like doing is having a 1 minute time and a metronome set for 2/4 timing starting at 60 bpm, so i have one beat to move my fingers. I do one minute of all the chord changes in the Guitar fundamentals 1. Once I can nail one change then I up the speed 5 bpm. My goal is to get them all to something like 160 bpm.

Sounds good. Even if i don't think that it's neccessary to be able to change chords at 160bpm. But the approach makes sense

Play along to Knockin on heavens door (g, d and c) and that will act as a metronome to practice those chord changes. Youll get the open C chord down in no time

Gnr or Dylan's version are fine.
