Does anybody know what the major difference between the Boss GT-6 and the Boss ME-50 is? Also, I am wondering, are multi-effect units worth considering, or is a person better off just buying individual pedals, like the Boss DS-2 or the Electroharmonix PolyChorus. Also, what is the major difference between digital chorus, and analog chorus?

If you know the answer to any of my questions, or you just have something useful about effects to say, please do, I know nothing and would like to learn about effects and which units are good.

thats completely up to your personal taste.

this might not be a very good sound example, since the mix is crap (i dont have good monitoring at home), but here´s a little coverversion i did of Rhapsody´s "Dawn of Victory" and its done with a Boss ME-50. various guitar parts layered on top of eachother playing the vocal lines - especially the part after the solo.

I would never go back to using individual pedals again. All those wires and 9 volt batteries... blech!

I think individual pedals are better, if you don't like just one company, like many people. For example, I prefer a Crybaby over a P10 wah by BOSS. So it wouldn't be smart of me to buy the multi-effect with a wah built in, if I'm just going to need to buy the wah that I like better. And this goes with all pedals. If you love the sound that all BOSS pedals give, then go for it. If not, then I would reconsider.

personally, i really like the sound of boss distortion, particularly the DS-1 and DS-2. I have a Danelectro distortion and I didn't think anything was wrong with it until I tried my setup using my friend's Boss DS-2 instead. Wow, that pedal has a much nicer distortion then my previous amp. I am told I can't even notice most of the great things the pedal can do because I just have a solid state amp.

So, would I be able to accurately emulate the Boss DS-2 distortion using the Boss GT-6 or Boss ME-50. Once again, what is the main difference between these two units?

That's a load of horse manure. It isn't a question of tubes vs. solid state, but your amp vs. another specific amp. What kind of amp are you running, anyways?

Most likely. I only have tried the MT-2 (Metal Zone), and I found that the GT-6 version of the MT-2 was pretty accurate. A little bit weaker, perhaps? I didn't A/B it or anything, so it was just my by-ear comparison.

There are a few main differences between the GT-6 and the ME-50. There's no LCD display on the ME-50, just a one digit display. The GT-6 has more effects and I don't think the ME-50 has amp simulations (I might be wrong there). A simple Google search will let you know some of the more important differences.

Oh yeah, the GT-6 is gold, and the ME-50 is blue.
... and that's all I have to say about that.
