2 guitars, one Bass, one Drummer and one Singer. No keyboard player, it wouldn't hurt to have one but that would mean that they would have to get payed also. Which means you will not make as much.

Stick to real musicians
Playing Guitar is fun!

i have heard two Irish (i think) bands that use the flute in their music, one is called horse lips, the other i can't remember both they are a Christian progressive/Celtic band. There sound is very different and quite fun to listen to.

Whats so bad about flutes?

in my band in germany we have 2 Bagpipers, 1 Female singer who also plays all sorts of flutes, 2 guitarrists (one of them is me and i also play some flutes and shawm), 1 Keyboardette (female keyboard player *LOL*) 1 Bassplayer, and 1 Drumer (who also plays orchestral transverse flute)...
so whats the deal?

ok.. we are not realy progressive in terms of dream theater.. we are more of a crossover between medieval music and metal.. but who cares?

call me ian, dude *LOL*

no - and we don't even sound the slightest bit like jethro. and if you think that jethro is the only band with winds (and i´m not talking of the rectal kind) in it, then you should probably check out the rest of the musical universe *LOL* ;)

I heard a cool story about your lead singer, Ian Anderson. Apparently, the reason he chose flute as his instrument in the band was that he didn't like being recognized, mobbed at airports, etc. So, he figured the flute was better than, say, a guitar, since you can't take a guitar apart and shove it in your coat pocket like you can with a flute.

Hmmm... that gives me an idea about coats with guitar sized pockets....
... and that's all I have to say about that.
