Who is playing that ? I dont have time to download it right now !
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

Some asian person who is very skilled. I'm definitely impressed. And curious as to who that is and where I can watch more of that stuff. :)

I couldn't tell if it was a woman, or a little boy. At any rate, I'm impressed. Does classical guitar require the most skill from a guitarist? Is it the most difficult discipline?

Pretty much. Unless I'm just biased from how beautiful it all sounds.

Those are legal to download, right?

Dahangit, if you look at the samples on her website she puts me to shame even at age 12. Time to start practicing.

Its videos like this that really make me regret giving up classical guitar (at least on a nylon stringed guitar).

In my opinion, this is how high the guitar should be played if it's to be played effectively, right? The thing about classical is the preciseness of it all. Not just the preciseness but the entire tune is so accurate to its written version that it may as well be computerized. Not just the technique to master but the note-by-note ... I can't think of the word. No freedom, still beautiful, but very strict. All in all amazing... I've developed one technique prior to seeing that video on my own but have never done fingerpicking. Why the hell am I using a pick.

Indeed, she's a fine player. But you know what? I can honestly say after watching about six of those videos, that even her arrangements get a bit monotonous after a while. She does amazing finger plucking, but it's not the best classical guitar I've ever heard (although it makes nice background music while browsing websites).

The only thing I really thought was cool (and something I've never seen before) was the artificial harmonics technique executed solely with the fretting hand (although it's actually natural harmonics executed like artificial harmonics with the fretting hand). You can see this in the 'Gran_jota.wmv' clip @ 5:53. Check it out.

Heh. I actually thought she was in her early 20's or something. If she's only 12, then she's pretty damn good. My confusion stems from the fact that she looks very different in her photos than in the video clips. I thought maybe she was just sporting short hair in those clips. I guess her bio probably says her age.

Yes, she could certainly smoke me at classical guitar. I wouldn't dispute that. And I am happy, thank you. :) I just meant she's no Paco DeLucia or anything. No need to get snappy. ;)

I'm pretty sure she's older than 12, I was just mentioning a video on her website of her playing the guitar when she was twelve.

I hate child geniuses... mainly out of envy though. Why couldn't my mom have given me a guitar when I was like 3 or 4? I didn't start playing until 15, but I guess I probably didn't have the discipline or desire to play before that, so I would've abandoned it... I dunno, hard to tell.

You mean where you play a note and an octave higher on the same string you lightly place your index finger and then pick with your thumb behind it? She was doing that for the harmonic but as well playing the octave lower regularily too so 3 octaves I think.

... Learned that from a guy who used a thumb pick to play everything. He was pretty amazing.

no this sounds terrible but you know this girl was bread to play guitar

it's just like the asian gymnists, she was probaly playing guitar by 3 years old and spends 8 hours a day practicing with an armed gaurd standing over her

I doubt she ever decided one day she wanted to play

but she is incredibly skilled, and only at age 12, she will be a legend someday if she begins performing large concernts and composing
