Anybody ever feel like hitting some of those classics up for a cover? I mean, two that I'd love to cover are ABBA -Mamma Mia and Beach Boys - I get around. I get around I'd even do live. Those bass lines are kickass. You do that tune right and you've got a hit ala modern sound. And Mamma Mia I'd just do instrumental because there's so many different melodic lines going around it'd be perfect. Those guys were genius melodically. Anyway, anybody else got a cover idea that may work out? I guess I'm kind of putting it on the line that somebody may steal my ideas but lol. Who's gonna do I Get Around, really.

Oh yeah and Black Water by the Doobie Brothers. Just for when the bass kicks in. That'd be sweet.

Anything by The Beatles, for bass, then Day Tripper. They've done just about everykind of song. Another good one by them is Revolution.

Some guy, I think I read it in Guitar World(April), anyways, he is a metal player and he recorded his own version of "You Drive Me Crazy" by Britney. Haven't heard it, but supposedly thats how he got known around his home town.

I got a version of Ozzy doing "Staying Alive" from the Bee Gees... and Dweezil did a really good cover of "Hit Me Baby One More Time"

I like Eagles when I wanna pull out a cover tune... A lot of good stuff there to choose from... I also think I need to redo "Livin La Vida Loca" in more of a speed metal fashion....
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

Frankenbok did a metal cover of a pop song Madison Avenue - Don't Call Me Baby.

Alternatively, Tori Amos did a cover of Slayer - Raining Blood.

I've done a berzerker style cover of Seven Nation Army for sh*t and giggles but failed. Parts sound too much like the original and other parts the drums take over the song, going at 428bpm but I only spent 10-15 minutes on it.

I've also made a song that was intended to be a cover of Fatman Scoop - Be Faithful but isn't recognisable to the original. I've only got good comments about it though (apart from people wondering why I called it a cover), so I'd say it's a good metal song.

The Cardigans covered Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Talk about something that shouldn't work working.

Great post subject, here's my 2 cents:

I would love to hear the Muppet's song from "The Muppets in Manhattan" played with Azrael's guitar....I can only imagine the demented puppet chaos that would ensue.

I also did a heavy metal version of theme to Charlie Brown's Christmas....very neato.

I also heard a great metal version of "Danny Boy." That's what we need people.....heavy versions of Irish drinking songs.....kick ass.

I would like to hear "Mmmbop" by Hanson played with Azrael's guitar.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

Dude...

How come your mp3s lately sound like you fell asleep at your keyboard while recording and your nose was pressing down all the keys at once?
... and that's all I have to say about that.

HAHAHA, I just played "Christmas time is here" at my school's annual blue note cafe! But in the second show, my rhythm guitarist started using all this distortion and divebombing after the intro and I started screaming in that ACDC voice "ARE YOU READY!!!???" And then we played a metal version based on Tchaikofsky's "Dance of the Sugarplum Fairies." ...I think we scared a few people that day... "PAUL, GIVE ME SOME RHYTHM GUITAR!!!" hahaha, that was hilarious.

O Danny boy, I hear, I hear you calling...
I want the bomb
I want the P-funk!

My band is better than yours...
