Are there some theory articles in the web, where all important parts of theory are explained from the level of nearly zero? Best would be if it´s in German. It´s just I would have enough time on my way to school, whick takes 45 minutes, to study theory, and I really want to get more into that topic.

I'm not sure how much theory you can actually learn just by reading, or if you could; would it be worth it. Most of the basic stuff is best covered in books. That's your best bet if you want to learn from the ground up. Elementary Harmony by Ottman is a good starting book. He covers rhythm, harmony, melody, and alittle bit of form in a very easy and comprehensable way. I don't know if his books come in German, if not. Check out Paul Hindemith. His books are the best on the subject. Either one of the authors are great, and their books will be extremely helpful. Be prepared to do alittle work though cause both contain several exercises and assignments on each subject as you learn them. Basic theory is something you just need to put into practice to actually learn it.

Thanks, I´ll check them out, and of course I intend to put studied theory into practice, because what do I learn it for? To become a better PLAYER.

Ich hab da eine Empfehlung für dich....
Diese zwei Bücher, die mE GOLD wert sind:

Frank Haunschild - Die Neue Harmonielehre - Band 1
Eddy Marron - Die Rhythmiklehre

Danke!

bla bla bla german.....

ok anyways - for most theory you should figure it out by doing it on your own... you'll really grasp it and understand. I'm just confused by one thing for all you people that are asking about theory. What is it you really want to learn? There are so many different aspects of theory. For most of the people I have run into in person they want to learn modal theory. For this site that doesn't seem to be the case, so what do you really want to know and figure out?
There are only two important things in life - There's music and theres girls, not necessarily in that order....

You should be able to obtain this information through several guitar related books. About why chords are named such, they are named on the harmony build on the root note. The root note is always the letter, in this case D. When just a number (no maj or min) follows the letter, it refers to a dominant chord. In this case, a D dominant 13th chord. Now knowing the formula for a dominant 13th chord, 1, 3, 5, b7, 9, 11, 13. The formula comes from building from the root note as I said in the beginning. So the chord contains the root note (1) D, then the 3rd (F#), then the 5th (A), and so on. You end up with the notes D, F#, A, C, E, G, B. A D dominant 13th chord. Now when you see more after that, such as the "b5b9". You take the formula as before and you alter it as it says, so then it becomes 1, 3, "b5", b7, "b9", 11, 13. The chord becomes D, F#, Ab, C, Eb, G, B. Make sense. If not, this is explained thoroughly in any book I listed or Az's book on harmony. It's good to know not just how to play a C7 chord on the guitar, but also how it is constructed. Which is what I explained alittle about above.

hehe - since his mothertounge is german i think he´d be better off learning the german terms for all that stuff first - especially because some of it is different.

Az, no.

People in the states say "native tongue." Mothertongue just sounds funny. It's ok to say that, just a funny word.
