Acromegaly is another name for giantism, or they are very close in symptoms. I think acromegaly is the overgrowth of bone and cartilage that usually leads to arthritis. Its like a release of too many hormones or something. And it makes bones longer, causes snorning etc. But it doesnt effect the internal organs i believe.

I'll look up disease in this medical book i have if you can't find it.

I thought that was called elephantitus or something of that nature.
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

Hey arent we all brainy guitar people afterall!
Yea the reason I remembered was because the illustration of gigantism in our high school text books was famously "funny"!

Gigantism isnt that. Gigantism is where your body gets to big for your heart and lungs to cope. What ketsueki15 has said is the opposite !
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

You need to give me a bit more information as at them moment you could be looking at anything from Gulf war syndrome to Cancer to Cardiomegally to Visceral Leishmaniasis or mononucleosis.

Is this an infectious condition or genetic ?

check this out:

http://www.mannosidosis.org/alexarticle3.htm

One of the symptoms associated with this conditions is cardiomegally (swollen heart). Basically your lysomes (organelles in cells that act a bit like the cells stomach) are missing an enzyme required to digest a particular type of sugar. This sugar them builds up in tissues and causes problems.

Generically these conditions are known as "Lysosomal Storage Diseases".

It's not elephantitis...there's no such word.

It's Elephantaisis.

Usually, the suffix -itis represents an inflammation. Laryngitis, bronchitis, so on and so forth.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, just wanted to point that out.

My mom works for a doctor and she is going to ask him tomorrow, I'll relay the message. :)

Well, actually, your post made me feel like checking out http://www.dictionary.com, and it's spelled Elephantiasis.

From Dictionary.com
el·e·phan·ti·a·sis ( P ) Pronunciation Key (l-fn-t-ss)
n.
Chronic, often extreme enlargement and hardening of cutaneous and subcutaneous tissue, especially of the legs and external genitals, resulting from lymphatic obstruction and usually caused by infestation of the lymph glands and vessels with a filarial worm.

... and that's all I have to say about that.

ALL generalizations are WRONG

I just thought it was appropriate, considering the tone of your previous post...

To use a bad pun: "Giving you a taste of your own medicine!" HAR! HAR!! That's a real knee-slapper, ain't it?!? You get it? Medicine? Medical disease? Huh!?!?

Wait a second.. that's not funny... :(

Hey!! Didn't you read the line that said, "I'm not trying to be a dick."

I was just simply pointing it out. And I thought that was a pretty good spelling from memory. So there!!! :P
