Hey people

My friend and I were talkign about straps and picks the other day, and I was just wondering, what's your favorite strap and pick? Take in mind comfort and strength......

Mine has got to be the Planet Waves Locking Strap and the Dunlop Tortex 70mm

If I had more money I would use a levi strap without question, but as of now the best thing for the money is an epiphone 1/8 in. thick plain leather strap. For picks, I dunno. Depends on what I'm playing. All around fender medium or something similar. Of course, that's about half the picks out there. It's a pretty common tension. For rock, like if I got a band going again, one of those purple dunlaps.

I use a cheap guitar center strap which is really good actually. And i use 1.0mm dunlops. I gotta bc rich worlock and what strap would fit that the best, because the locks are on the back side and the strap slips off

I use straps made of human skin only.
and my picks are made of beaver-teeth.

Strap...don't care...pick care a-lot!

I like the Dunlop "Big Stubby" (I don't go THAT way...just like the pick). Use it playing acoustic too. Used to play with the Fender Extra-Heavy but I find that the music stores in my area don't keep them in stock...besides, the "Big Stubby" lasts a good long time. I tend to wear the lighter picks out too fast.

big clayton triangle picks...give a real heavy attack...best not to use them on 9's.

Best strap ive EVER used and still use are the 'Kepur' pro straps. The mid-range strap(zero smooth pro 2?)has a hole to run your patch cable through so you dont stomp it out while jammin.I have dunlop straploks, but the strap will stay on without them.
Try once,fail twice...

No need for that - just pass the cable between the strap and the guitar body on the way to the jack.

I use the Tortex or Fender light blues 1mm picks. I tried moving up in thickness to 1.14, but I just didn't like it. This is my niche. I also occasionally use Big Stubbys, and when I'm desperate, I'll use a quarter or a penny ;)

There is one odd thing I do to my picks... When I buy a pack I take them all out and stab them over and over at a slight angle while rotating the pick. This creates a bunch of little notches that make the pick totally non-slip. I have had a person walk in while I was doing that... needless to say, there was some explaining to do.

I have some cheap old strap, but hey, it works, and like Lordathestrings, I also route my cord between the strap and the body.
"You must stab him in the heart with the Bone Saber of Zumacalis... well, you could stab him in the head or the lungs, too... and the saber, it probably doesn't have to be bone, just anything sharp lying around the house... you could poke him with a pillow and kill him."

the type of straps dont really matter to me as long as they are confortable and stay on the guitar good..now the pick thats a different story...they have to be heavy picks with the powdery stuff on them.. that and i like the 2.0 thick picks..good for lead and not to bad on rhythm

Before, I used to use a nickel as a pick. I wanted to be like Brian May but I live in Canada so I have to settle for a nickel instead of a six pence. I found that coins with serrated edges are the best picks. It has more attack and you can feel the strings more. But I found that when I play the nickel for longer periods of time, it stains my hands and i get nickel all over my fingers. I don't how it happens. Maybe I should try a penny- maybe it stains less? But after awhile of having nickel fingers and getting sick and tired of scrubbing my hands everytime I picked a guitar, I switched to dunlop jazz III picks. They're pretty sturdy and they match the color of my guitar.

As for straps, I like ones made out of leather, reptile skin, or fur straps. The one's i have are made by levys but i'm sure there are other brands out there have better designs. I also make sure that I put schaller lock straps on my guitar and strap for maximum protection.

"Lets see… well I play the guitar and when I'm not playing the guitar, I think about playing the guitar. My other favorite instrument, is the guitar and if I aspired to play any other instrument, it would be the guitar...

I can’t sing so I sing through my guitar. So when the sound guy says: “Your guitar is too loud!” I think: "Why does he never say that to the vocalist?"
