All he does is take a two-note chord, rail on it as fast as he can and somewhere near the tempo, then rams his whammy bar in a convulsive way.

Sorry, I have a lot of pent up rage against Greg Keelor.

Have you ever seen Jim Cuddy play? He's way better. Or Kim Deschamps, their session player who also plays some lead and pedal steel in concert - he's wicked.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

ALL generalizations are WRONG

Ya, I've seen Blue Rodeo 3 times, and Kim is awesome, and so is Cuddy. But what I'm saying is that, I like Greg's crazy, messy way of playing. It just appeals to me.

there's a lot of guitarists out there that has influenced me but my main two are paul mccartney and brian may. It's funny because mccartney's not even considered a virtuoso guitarist- Harrison's better than him. The most, he's more of a bassist because of the role that he played with the Beatles, but that's not the point. He's my number one because he's the first one who influenced me to learn how to sing. And from singing, picking up the guitar was automatic because I just gotta know Beatles songs. I loved his persona more than his guitar playing and that got me making music.

If mccartney inspired me to play, brian may was the one who gave me the inspiration to keep on playing. There's probably a lot of players better and faster than him but again that's not the point. I like him because I can relate to him. Having times when I was the only guitar player in the band, he showed me that its not necessary to have two guitar players- all you have to do is create your own sound. I also like his style- sort of like a minimalist at times (in my opinion) although i bet he can play 30 min. solos if he wants. He's solos are short but exact, distinct, very melodical, and full of emotions. It basically tells a story- well composed. It's like a well composed short essay. I always find that the hardest essays to write are the short ones.

"Lets see… well I play the guitar and when I'm not playing the guitar, I think about playing the guitar. My other favorite instrument, is the guitar and if I aspired to play any other instrument, it would be the guitar...

I can’t sing so I sing through my guitar. So when the sound guy says: “Your guitar is too loud!” I think: "Why does he never say that to the vocalist?"

The original lead guitarist for Heart was Roger Fisher. That intricate guitar work that made them so fresh and interesting to listen to, stopped when he left. Nancy's stuff just didn't have the same kick. :(

I like all the older stuff off the Little queen album and Dreamboat annie etc...Some really off the wall lead work I'Im not so much for the effects on everything but the licks are truely choice.
The lead to Magic Man is HOT.
My first regular giging group was a female vocal band and we covered allot of Heart after we started playing Magic Man I got totaly into trying to right licks with that off the wall slurred effect. From then till now I prolly sound nothing like that anymore but thats were the ball started rolling.

Mine would have to be (in no particular order)

David Gilmour
Kirk Hammett (not for the technique or the *cough* lightning fast speed lol, but because of the melody and felling he adds in some of his solos.)
Slash
Clapton
Adam Jones- again not for technique etc. The guy just has a way of putting you in a trance with the simplest of riffs.
Well there's some of mine

- Yngwie Malmsteen
He showed me classical influcenced music, I found myself loving to play classical music.
His techniques are realy great and I think its absolutely the limit to play like Yngwie.

- James Hetfield (Metallica)
Accualy Hetfield is a better guitarist than hammett I think. Metallica got me into guitarplaying, and im still playing almost everything they created. I love the old stuff :)

- Alex Lifeson (Rush)
I love Rush there music, and Im getting realy into that stuff lately

- Chris DeGarmo (Queensrÿche)
Real natural style of playing, classical influences, and a great music writer :) Also acoustic he can kick some ass!

these 4 are my main influences I guesss,

some more guitarists I like to hear:
- Paco De lucia
- Slash
- Angus Young
- Eddie Van Halen
- Dave Murray

:)

who's the greatest guitarist... hmmm...

for me that would have to be that old dude who plays the guitar on the subway. he's freakin amazing! he's blind, he's almost deaf, only stands on one leg, and plays the guitar with only 7 fingers but he still sounds so good- i started taking the subway!!! I especially love it when he plays "blue moon of kentucky."
"Lets see… well I play the guitar and when I'm not playing the guitar, I think about playing the guitar. My other favorite instrument, is the guitar and if I aspired to play any other instrument, it would be the guitar...
