Most Emotive Song?
What song touchs you the most? I like mainly cheesy rock, so the ballads arent really to be taken seriously. So id go for "simple man" or "Tuesdays Gone" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, they are really amazing.
# 1
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah (He didnt write it but he might aswell have, its so honest, despite the fact he never wrote it, its hard to explain. Just assume Im full of **** and ignore me)
Our Lady Peace - Somewhere Out There (supposedly they sold out with their last album but I dont care, I love them and alot of their songs mean alot to me, this one for a special reason)
Train - Drops Of Jupiter (I dunno, it just is)
Eric Clapton - Change The World (I love Claptacoustic)

All versions of "Little Wing" are good, as is "Cemetary Gates", "One" and any Pearl Jam song.

Man, SRV's version of little wing is definatley my vote. I absolutely love anytime a song sends shivers up and down my spine. Here's a few other songs that have done that to me:
Dire Straits - "Sultans of Swing" (the triplets at the end)
GNR - "November Rain" (That last solo made me buy a guitar)
Audioslave - "I am the highway" and "Getaway Car"
Dire Straits - "Sultans of Swing" (the triplets at the end)
GNR - "November Rain" (That last solo made me buy a guitar)
Audioslave - "I am the highway" and "Getaway Car"
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

That song by Audioslave is awesome! You've gotta love Cornell's singing in that one.

Sultans of Swing - what a great song. Estranged by Guns has always been a fav of mine. Pearl Jams Alive, although somewhat cliched has a lot of meaning to me, sadly it has been known to bring tears to my eyes.

Emotive songs? Pink Floydd - comfortably numb and coming back to life are utterly brilliant.
Pearl jam I love, Black is very emotive. I like a song by Allanis Morrisette called "Thankyou", it's very melancholy.
Emotive music: There are so many great emotive guitar solos but interms of all round emotive tracks here are some - Prelude one by a little known Australian group called Sentience; it's got these gorgeous minor 9 arpeggios with some volume swell guitar over the top and a beautiful bass line. Terje Rypdal's QED movement 4 is utterly tragic - more volume swell guitar but with lots of strings and some beautiful melodies.

If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

Pretty much all of the songs that everyone has said by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, SRV, Pearl Jam, and GnR.
Some more:
Why We Cry: Kenny Wayne Shepherd
Melissa: The Allman Brothers Band
Dream On: Aerosmith
Down in a Hole: Alice In Chains

Pink Floyd is top ten in this category, I'd have to say:
Vera
Is there anybody out there?
The Great Gig in the sky
Marooned (no singing, though, so is it still a song?)
High Hopes
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Wish you were here
I could go on...
I second the vote(s) for Estranged. Also check out Fiona Apple. Oh yeah, and Janis Joplin - Ball & Chain, Summertime.
Man, I keep thinking of more! All we are - Kim Mitchell; Bohemian rhapsody - Queen; Maybe, Forgiveness - Collective Soul; Life without you - SRV.
However, I will say that I believe that songs are "emotive" because of the meaning that each individual puts into it. Therefore, people may not think of many of the songs I've listed above as having as much emotional impact as I do (they're all killers for me). That being said, we all have our hard experiences in life, and, as most of us here listen to the same general artists, we will probably find that we have many songs in common that we feel have great emotional impact.

Simple Man and Mamma I'm Comming Home have been very emotional songs for me ever since I lost my mother back in '98.
# 13
Tender Surrender - Vai is very emotional (just watch him play it LOL)
Mama I'm Coming Home is good as well.

To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

well.. i guess i could name a few hundred, but i´ll stick to only a few ones:
Demons and Wizards "Fiddler on the green"
I love hansi´s studio voice (i´ve seen them live a few times.. he isnt half as good as in studio), but on that album its the only song that i like .. the others are somewhat meaningless compared to the BlindGuardian stuff.
Blind Guardian:
"The Bards Tale" (both forest and hobbit)
"I´m alive" (especially the part where he goes "hit me, nail, me make me god")
"Past and Future Secret"
"Quest for Tannelorn"
"Nightfall"
.. and alot more by BG
Bruce Dickinson/Iron Maiden:
"Tears of the Dragon" asweme (lol) song!
"Man Of Sorrows"
"Omega"
"Taking the Queen" (does ANYONE understand the meaning of the lyrics???)
"Gates of Urizen (sp?)"
"Infinite Dreams"
"Afraid to shoot strangers"
etc....
Rhapsody / Luca Turilli:
"Warriors Pride"
"Legendary Tales" (basically the whole album - listened to it when i read "The Lords of the Sky" by Angus Wells - it perfectly captured the mood although it has nothing to do with it)
"King of the nordic Twilight"
etc..
GammaRay / Helloween:
"Keeper of the Seven Keys I" (the whole album)
"Rebellion in Dreamland" (also the whole album)
"Armagheddon"
"Pray"
"Heal me" (one of my all time favourites)
"Heading for tomorrow"
etc..
Hammerfall:
Their first album rocked my socks off - but the other albums where just weak copies of it
Running Wild:
"Treasure Island"
"Prisoners of our Time"
"Under Jolly Roger"
"Death or Glory"
"Wild Animal"
"Stortebeker"
"Chains & Leather"
etc..
Grave Digger:
"The dark of the sun"
"The ballad of Mary"
"Rebellion"
"The Keeper of the Holy Grail"
Skyclad:
"Penny Dreadfull"
"Bombjour"
"Inequality Street"
"Snake Charming"
"No deposit, No return" (fantastic tune with fantastic lyrics - martin walkyer writes by far the best lyrics i´ve read!)
"Quantity Time"
"I dubious"
Saviour Machine:
"Legend" the whole trilogy
"Saviour Machine I"
"American Babylon" (simply great)
.. there are way more, but thats all i can think of at the moment.
