How do i go about learning how to sing?
I bet the first couple of times you do it you want to quit and never sing again however, like everything else, the more you do it the better you will get.
The first time I heard my voice recorded I wanted to die ~ !
By recording your self and listening back to your singing, (providing you have a reasonable sense of pitch) you can critique your own work and then work out what needs to be worked on.
You also donāt have every git in the world telling you how much you suck (cos everyone does at first) until you are ready, well practiced and confident enough to tell people who diss you to bugger off !

You can start by singing scales along with your guitar. Start with the lowest note you can sing comfortable and just work up from there. Then once your get familiar with the scale, try singing the note before you play it on the guitar and check to see how accurate you were. This is will help build accuracy with your vocals. Definitely do what simon said about recording yourself, that will help you recognize and correct faults in your singing. Takes some time if your not used to sing, so be patient. best of luck.
damn man 5 octave range, that's a heck of a range. I can get about 2 and half now and that's pushing it on those higher notes. And yeah lita ford is pretty hot. One day I'll get a gurl who plays guitar, i mean seriously.

The process of learning to sing is best done with either a good instructional book or a good teacher whoĀ“s into rock. you can do ALOT of harm to your voice when learning it yourself without having a good plan how to build it up. Be carefull when choosing a teacher - some do have a pretty strange view of things and that can also be very dangerous for your voice. What you need to learn before starting to sing is a propper breathing technique - thats the very basic of singing. The basics of rock and classical singing are the same to a certain point - but if you want to learn to sing metal or rock, you should definitely not get too much into classical-voice training.

Anyways, GuitarTricks has a link to that singing lesson site on the main page. It seems to be pretty reputable. I think I'll start a new thread to get opinions, since I've been considering purchasing the CDs.

well - i talked to a Sopran- Singer last weekend who sings alot of stuff all around germany in various ensembles - she has 3 octaves and she said that the absolute maximum you can get out (only a few gifted ones can) of you voice is 4 octaves - thats about it. that is quite amazing - i mean - imagine to sing EVERY note you can play on a 24 fret guitar - thats 4 octaves.

to have a 7 octave range she must be able to growl like a bear and sing so high that even dogs vanish and bats fall from the sky
