Not a Pro, Just like guitar
String Grease, Finger weights,....
Is string grease good stuff? Finger weights...helpful? and what kind of practice books or tab books or anything short of a real-life teacher that helped you guys get better? Im pretty much learning this thing on my own and most books ive found arent very helpful so im curious if any of you pros have any reccomendations, and i know the real-life teacher is prolly the way to go but not an option currently.

I've had a teacher for the first couple of months to learn the basics ,reading tabs, standard notation and a little theory , then I quit lessons only progressing by playing tabs I find in tab books or online , and I don't think it would have been any better to continue with lessons.
Also some books , articles ,etc. help.
If you realy need some books/vids , I think John Petrucci's "Rock Discipline" and Yngwie Malmsteen vids are quite helpfull if you've reached the intermediate point of soloing.

It is about the same for me. I am going about playing guitar pretty much on my own too. But the VAST majority of the stuff I learn is on CD at my house, and then I get tab for it. I also get tricks and exercises here, but some really good tab sites I use (these are pretty much the ONLY ones I use): olga.net, and guitaretab.com . That way, you can play to the CD and get the timing and stuff like that down perfect. That's all I do. Happy learning.
"Thank God for the power chord!!!"
