Doc-

I just hope I don't mess up. So how's the recording engineering going?? Are you going to be posting any new tunes any time soon?? That would be kool, I really liked your stuff. I just ordered a new soundcard so I'll try to get something up too. I just hope I don't get bashed too hard. :)

Me 2, Im taking my first shaky steps into the world of computer recording and mastering.

I have a 16 bit Sound blaster Live card at the moment however I really want to go up to 24 bit at 44 KHz sample rate. That means using the MIDI port of the Sound blaster (to talk to the D1600) and getting as second low latency optical in analogue out PCI card for importing wav files from the D1600 and for monitoring. Im also going to get a copy of Cakewalk Sonar XL2 and see where we go from there.

I have absolutely no experience with packages like Sonar and may well come knocking on doors after info in the not to distant future however their is also the matter of that Les Paul was after as well as well as a sound module for Catherine’s electric Piano....ah the list goes on !

As far as tunery is concerned Im going to re record the drums and bass for most the tunes I have laid down so far and re-master the lot on the computer so Im going to be posting re-mixes for criticism in the not too distant future as well as one or two new songs which should keep me out of mischief!

Thanks for your kind word earlier, I’ll doubtless be bugging you for feedback / info in the near future !

All the best man
S

Good Luck! :D Naw I think computer recording and mastering it relatively easy, depending on the software you use. I had Cakewalk before and it's pretty easy to learn. I use Cubase now, and that one is a headache and a half. Also use Soundforge for editing and Acid for wacky instrumental type stuff (techno mostly). I think I have the same sound card you have and I always had problems with it. My recommendation if you were to get a 24 bit card, it would be the midiman audiophile. That's what I just got. My friend uses it and it's great. Really simple, and it's only like 130 bux. Really good for midi, got I/O digital inputs. Awesome card for the price.

If you have Q's about all that fun stuff, post 'em and I'll try to help if I can. Best of luck to you too man.
