Of course, it's all good when you are using an exotic scale or something really hard. But, what's the best thing you do to show off?? You know, to get the girls and stuff.

Slide with a beer bottle down the neck and take a sip when you get past the nut, make it look incidental that music's happening (it'd sound that way if I tried it!)
I saw a guy using his music stand as a slide once and jumping around tables as he played. He kicked ass.
There's always tapping and, if you swap your hands round when you do it people think it's harder for some reason..
There's two handed bending, you bend a bit with one hand and then put the other hand behind your fretting hand and push the string around, you can get 3and a half tone bends that way if the string doesn't break!
What'd really impress ME would be seeing someone bend two or more notes different amounts at the same time, that's a killer!

If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

One of my easier, but stil impressive tricks is to be playing a gig and order a drink while playing. They hand me the drink, which I consume with my right hand, while I play legato with my left hand. It's quite impressive to people that don't know how easy it is.

A funny looking trick that's pretty impressive is to purposefully drop your pick while playing, but make it look like an accident. While bending down to get it, set your guitar on the back of your neck and play legato while reaching for the pick. This basically looks like your guitar and left hand stay stationary, but the rest of your body moves while you are still playing. This is a bit harder to coordinate than the other trick, but still not all that hard. Make sense?

To get girls, I would say play a song they know!!! Thats always a good start.

Slasher hit the nail on the head. Getting a girl is easy... ask her what her favorite song is, then learn it and play it at your next local gig. Before playing it though, say, "This song is dedicated to [insert flavor of the week here]". She'll be head over heels in love with you.

Still I think November Rain. Don´t Cry, Always, Bed Of Roses...you got the idea always work but you should throw in somthing dirty too like Girls Girls Girls by Motley Crue.

That one when you play legato and mute the strings with your right hand above left hand (reversed) looks cool and my bandmates think that I´m only after to impress folks but what they don´t get is that mute technique gets so much better that way. I like it, cool and useful.

Actually I missed out my party piece, just pick out as many pinch harmonics as you can from the open strings, you can get triads easily (and more extended arps) from just one string. Do what the hell you want with the other hand so long as it's not embarrasing.

But than again if you overdo it remember that those girls probably don´t know a sh!t about guitarplayng and they´ll probably think that you are just messin´ around ´cause even if it sounds right they will probably still think that it´s nothing. 3 chord songs can be useful afterall.

When i was younger in cover bands...the girls always loved to hear bon jovi or def leppard.

As far as impressing other guitar players (Most non musicians can give a sh*t...lol at least for me is 8 finger tapping wich I got heavily into after studying with Roy Ashen for a year.
I started learning guitar because of Randy Rhoads..but Yngwie J. Malmsteen is my biggest influence.

In order to impress on chicks, play stuff like Stairway To Heaven, Godfather, lots of classical pieces and if you can sing, learn Bohemian Rhapody (mama part) on guitar and sing along.

I remember when I tried impress on my cousin who basiclly never heard anything else than Yugoslavian folk music, I played Surfin´ With Alien and when I came to the fast tapping part he was like o my god but than when I played other harder parts in the song he still liked the tapping stuff most.

Funny thing is than almost nobody (who don´t know anything about guitar playn´) never gets imoressed by fast alternate picking. I mean among guitar players alternate stuff is HUGE, but I guess that it just isn´t flashy enough.

Back in school days , I used to take my acoustic there , play and sing metallica's "mama said" , "Fade to Black" , songs from Nirvana's unplugged and similar stuff .

Inspite of my "non-arguable" horrible vocal range and overall singing , girls "LOVED" it , and the boys (including myself!!) hated my voice .
But anyway , screw the boys (including myself for sure) , it's the girls who I am (we're) going for :D .

One fact I learned from my humble experience , "most" girls donno crap about real music ! LOL

I think it´s the expression that counts, not the voclas in those situations. Eyesed closed and shakin´ head slowly is the killer technique here.

Our you can just watch Bakstreet Boys and Westlife videos. Man, westlife songs are one of the worst I ever heard and they made me laugh. Baby here Baby there, love me here love me there??? Damn man.

Positive thing is that all that boy-band stuff is gettin´ out slowly but steadly. Horey!!!

Yeah , I remember that , most girls used to listen to that "Get Down" , "As long as you love me" backstreet buttholes stuff !

They also used to bring discmans to the school , and they get pretty impressed when I instantly figure out some basic guitar riffs from one of these crappy songs.

I wish these kid bands get off soon ... I could roughly take a whole Michael Jackson album than a couple of minutes of kid bands music.

Oh Baby Baby I love yoooou , ooooh yaaah ehhhh ehhh yeeeeeeeeeahhhhh !!! :D
