Yogoslavian folk music? *L* stuff like Lepa Brena? She seems never to get old, does she?

however..

Whats impressive also is to play legato stuff on the guitar (even if it is only powerchords) and with the righthand play some sort of solo on a keyboard - it looks realy impressive and it isnt actually that hard to do.

I saw some guy do this in some movie called "Rockstar",about some guy who was in Iron Maiden or something.I dunno if the story is fictitious or is actually based on the life of a Maiden.
Anyway,I was kinda impressed by the trick,so I guess it would work.
I'm not anywhere near as good as many of the folks here(I figure your skill level from the stuff you write-I don't,for instance, know what legato is(don't you f***ing laugh)),but I can play a coupleof songs, stuff by three doors down,Matchbox 20,Alanis,Jewel,like that, and this stuff impresses a lot of people(both boys and girls) who know the songs.

Man I got to see Rockstar again coz when I first saw it I didnĀ“t have a clue who Zakk Wylde was and than later IĀ“ve heard that he was the guitar player. I got to see it again now when I know that itĀ“s him.

If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

Yeah, I know dude ... And Jenifer Batten did some cool stuff with him like "Dirty Diana" .
But the best guitar solo I've ever heard in MJ music was "Give in to me" by Slash , this guy adds "a lot" to any music he plays.

Inverting hands and doing legato runs is impresive... Also tapping. But whatever you do, add a "oh my god this is so damn hard and i'm so gifted" expression. That always works as long as you dont over do it.

Someone mentioned buying a drink while playing legato earlier.. I'd just like to say I think it'd be damn funny to give such a guitarist monopoly money, washing tokens and tazs and see how they resolve that kind of dilemma.. Anyone who could swear/fight and play a guitar gets my respect!

I recently discovered I can play behind my head. I was soooo happy. Other stuff I do is play the guitar behind my back and do that inverted hands legato thing someone mentioned earlier. People also like it when I play things in the 12 bar blues?!
And God said, 'Let there be rock!'

That's sacriledge. If you can afford to smash a guitar you can surely better afford to give it to some poor kid who can't afford one.

I never said i would do such a thing, i would never throw, or smash my guitar, it took me months to save up the money to buy it, and Im only 17, so it's very important to me, but I have a squier i wouldnt mind breaking over someones head.

I believe the first one smashed his guitar (on stage on purpose) was Jimi Hendrix ... Everybody else who do that is just immitating him, like we immitate his teeth picking , back playing , etc.

Townshend was actually the first, I think, but he did it by accident when he snapped his guitar's headstock on the cieling. He though, "Meh," and kept smashing it. The crowd liked it, so he kept on doing it at shows.
And God said, 'Let there be rock!'

Most non-guitarists Ive known, including all ladeez bar one, couldn't tell the difference between Joe Satch/Steve Vai and some 3-chord merchant in bands like The Hives/Strokes/White Stripes etc. I played 'Crystal Planet' t'other day to the wife and she had to ask whether JS was a good player? So, my advice is if you wanna lay some groupies dont bother with Malmsteenish sweeping. A low slung guitar at thigh level Slash-like, a ciggy in the headstock Eddie VH stylee and handily placed bottle of JD and wham bam thank you mam. It's all in the attitude.

ThatĀ“s pretty true BUT, if you can show off like Malmsteen not only by using phenomenal technique but to do it all with an amazing style, than the 75% of the battle is won.

PS. I think that players like Vai, Yngwie, Wylde, Becker... had cooler stage show than Slash had/have.
