Hey hows everyone going ?

I have a strumming question .

I am learning the beginners version of Runaway Train and I am confused .

So the strumming pattern is DD UU DU .

So when do I change chords i,e most chords in this song are 2 bars and when I slow the vid lesson down it would appear to me most 2 bar chords seem to be changed after the folowing DD UU DU DD UU DU ie 2 x DD UU DU ???

Can somebody please explain is this correct

Cheers Dave

So the strumming pattern is DD UU DU .
[p]That is the pattern for when you actually strum the chords, but notice that you should always be constantly strumming your arm back & forth: down, up, down, up, etc.

Caren covers this in detail on this lesson of the tutorial.

The trick is to avoid strumming the strings on some of those strums.

Down (strum) up (miss) down (strum) up (strum) down (miss) up (strum) down (strum) up (strum)
So when do I change chords

You change chords every 2 measures. So you complete that strumming pattern twice (once for each single measure), then change chords. Hope that helps!
