Is it just me or is rap and that whole gangsta, finger pointing thing getting a little old.

I disagree. There's excellent hiphop out there, just not the MTV stuff.

yeah mtv rap is pretty much just the same thing over and over its fun to write your own raps, heres one of mine and oh you guys should buy or DL some rap buy a group called Jedi mind Tricks there badass, look for a song called Five Perfect Exertions

Hiphop has been around since the 80's, trust me when I say it's not going away anytime soon.

Eminem puts the C in rap. What's so cool about violence and infidelity? Check out the rapper from Senser, his timing and diction are perfect and the lyrics are intelligent, rich in metaphor and morally astute and yet not the slightest bit stuffy. The whole band gels too. Go and buy "Stacked up" if you want to hear top quality, cheeseless, brilliantly produced rock music with funky electronica and top tunes.

That is why I think most rap sucks. The stupid lyrics and idiotic self promotion. I can think of very few rappers that have something important to convey in thier songs.

Do you know "most" rap? Or do you know what comes on MTV? Big difference between those two. It's not because it's popular that it's good. Rather, what's really popular is actually crap most of the time.

I dont watch MTV. Thats how bad it is. The stupid stuff is on every other channel too. And its not the subject matter that puts me off, its just noise to me.

rap isnt supposed to be serious stuff, its jsut a form of expression, sorta like poetry jsut with a beat, sure the mtv rap is so mainstream and crappy now that its ridiculous but therre is some realy good rap/hip-hop. But i really dont expect a forum of mostly hardcore guitarists to appreciate all of it much like i think every country song is about bitching and moaning but i know some ppl feel it thas jsut them, me i occasionally like a nice drum beat and a phat bass line with some humerous/smart lyrics, oh and a good flow
