Is rap getting corny?

The whole attitude thing is a bit lame, guyz comingout on stage grabbing there dicks ( like what the ****s that about) why do they all do that, makes them look like right lamos!

Muscially though its differnent it adds flavour to the world, just like Rock does, if there was only one thing it would be kind of boring

I used to think EMEM was a nob but i have realised specially since watching that film he was in he has alot of talent, my hat goes off to him, game on!

I dont think that any music style in particular is getting corny. I also dont think that it´s up to us to judge - criticism requres competence i say. The problem is more general - there are SOOOOO many musical styles out there, sooo many bands. What we lack is hearing them somewhere. Media is loss of diversity. The world has turned gray.. and evil EEeEEEEVILLlLLlLL *gasp* *nervous breakdown*

I think musical stlyles and genres are the result of musicians limiting their range of aural input and practice to something they are familiar and comfortable with. Genres are limiting. Personally I think I am a rock guitarist cause I love metallic shredding but I'd rather aspire to being like a jazz player than being like a standard rock guitarist and I love jazzy scales and big weird chords. I'm sure similar thing happen for many musicians opearting within a genre, they're trying to get out of their pigeonholes and take flight as it were.

Usually I hate rap! But I heard a brilliant rapper locally who rapped really fast and really rhythmically and his lyrics were funny and thought provoking at the same time. What's going on then? Talent, that's all, the guy was great no way would I tar him with the MTV brush.

So basically I don't respect people slagging off entire genres at once, some players are better and some mix a genre you don't like with one you do like and pick up some hybrid vigour.

Rap may not me getting corny.I agree with Azrael, musical styles are always changing, so slow that we only see it from decade to decade. But I still am not a big fan of rap. Its not my cup of tea, then again, I doubt Eminem would listen to Iron Maiden, so what can ya do?

ive never liked rap so i agree it sux.

I find the word "corny",well,corny.
Thing is,you will find geniuses and suckers everywhere you go.From computer programmers to celtic folk singers to windsurfers to fishermen to porn actors.Everywhere.
So don't dismiss something wholesale,coz everyone in that genius-sucker range is involved in something.

I got the Rage against Machine album, the one with "no your enemy". Its a great song, amazin riffs in it but it, as well as the other songs on the album is ruined by the rapping style of lyrics, its so naff. Everytime and bro or dad walks past my room i mute the sound incase they hear it.
The are only about 2 rap songs Ive every liked are, Ganqsters paradise, the vocals are so good, and its a stevie wonder cover!! And Aerosmith/kid rock?Run DMC - Walk This way collaboration- it makes aerosmith sound awesome!
