Hey & welcome to GT!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Is the squeak happening when you change chords? or when you are playing the chords?
In general the squeaking sound is related to the friction of your fingers as you change positions. So in order to minimize that you:
1. Play the chord.
2. Mute the strings (stop them from ringing) with your strumming hand palm while changing chord shapes.
3. Play the next chord.
Are the notes ringing clearly & cleanly? If so, that's good enough! Keep going forward!
If the squeaking is happening while you are playing the chord, then you need to work on your microplacement. You need to slowly & carefully move your fretting fingers around until you can get the chords to ring cleanly & clearly.
This tutorial covers the overall mechanics of fretting notes.

This tutorial covers simple C to G chord motion, lesson 3 focuses on the muting between each chord.

Hope that helps! Please ask more if necessary & best of success!

Ah ah! That sounds like a muting issue. Often that sound happens because you are slightly pulling the string when you remove your finger. You should work toward lifting your fingers cleanly off the strings without making any unwanted noise.
But you can really help yourself here with the muting I mentioned in my previous reply & lesson links. Give them a try!

Hi Chris sorry about the confusion
I did not notice the link you sent about fretting il try that once I get home
hopefully it'll work haven't really got to muting on the coarse yet il need to check that out too

That is also covered in my tutorial on simple C & G chords.

Again, muting will be key until you get enough practice to make the entire process smoothly connected.
I also demonstrate this in a little more depth in this lesson.

Do you need your calluses to form completely to stop the noise or can you do it without them sorry ful of questions

Calluses will help, but are not absolutely necessary. Muting is key. :)

Are there different ways you can hold the pick do you have to hold it like that in video one

It depends on what you mean by different! What did you have mind? :)[br][br]In general you need to hold it between your thumb and fingers. Usually you have the most control & leverage combining your thumb with your index and/or middle fingers.
There is some wiggle room here for the microplacement of how you grip it with those fingers. You have to figure out what works for you to some degree. But ultimately you are after technique that helps & does not hinder your motion in order to efficiently pick or strum the strings.
Just as important is to keep your grip just firm enough to grip the pick without too much squeezing. Too much pressure leads to you hand being too tense & rigid, making smooth technique hard to accomplish. Relax!
Another important aspect is to angle the pick so it glides over the strings instead of digging in & getting caught.
All of that is important & demonstrated in the context of the lessons. Hope that helps!
