umm...well maybe they closed on audiogalaxy, but i have hundreds of MP3's, and i've been getting them nonstop since like '99, check out WINMX, they have MP3's, and there are plenty of MP3 sources that have been up for a long time, Im not sure why you said they left...?

Anyways, I believe Aimster is still up (although they are in a lawsuit right now, that was similar to Napster's), if you have a Macintosh computer, Limewire works okay, Kazaa is another one, Morpheus is pretty popular, and these sources i've mentioned have all been out for quite a few years now (2 or more at least), and have more MP3 than you will probably ever download in your entire life.

And downloading stuff through an IRC server isn't a good idea. It's really slow.

Currently I use WINMX, and i have (routed) all the files from my old napster, my old aimster, and my old morpheus, and files from WINMX.

I haven't tried Kazaa yet, perhaps i'll download it soon...

I would.
Isn't WINMX the one you cant download videos on? It wasn't really me using it before, it was my sister, but she didn't like it.

I hate Kazaa's popup ads. I eventually found a patch you can download that eliminates the popups. There is also loads of Spyware with Kazaa.

After you download Kazaa run it. Run this Adaware program while Kazaa is running (If it isn't running then you will delete a spyware program that will stop Kazaa from working. I think the name of it is Cydoor).

Ok, the last 2 Cydoor files for this spyware program are the things that cause the ads to popup. I found a program that gets rid of these ads in Kazaa. You can find it here:

WinMX is definitely the best for a non-spyware MP3 client...

for videos and the like, try http://www.neo-modus.com (Direct Connect)

MP3s definitely have not gone away! Napster may have, but RICAA piracy is on the rise... ;)

most of my stuff goes on CDs... even with 80 GB, space gets used up pretty quickly! (especially with movies)

You can download vidoes on IMESH too but only if you have enough patients to put up with the abundance of popup adds. I've only got it because WinMX didn't ever seem to want to work for me. Thats what you get from a cheep ISP I guess.........

They upgrade WinMX ever once in awhile. The bad thing is that whenever they upgrade the older versions no longer works properly. I'd suggest getting the newest version of the program to see if that solves the problem.
