Hello again :) i made this video when i randomly stumbled across a pretty cool funk backing track ;)

Let me know what you think about my playing and how i could improve with my playing?!

Let me warn you of 1:52, it's not for the feint of heart :D ahahahah It was all improvised on the spot, so it's not 100% okay

Sounds great. I mean, yes....you were right, those licks around 1:50 were, um, interesting....

;)

That said, you have a great sense of key and melody. I rather enjoyed listening to it. If there was any advise; learn to build themes. I nice short melodic solo is great but if you circle around a theme within that solo, it becomes part of the song.

That was very cool! Parts of it put me in mind of Joe Satriani trying to get funky :).

I enjoyed listening to the whole thing. I really liked the chromatic stuff you did early on. I also like how you would play a phrase and repeat it a few times with modifications. I try to do that myself and I think it is a great technique.

I didn't think that dodgy part was really that dodgy. You got back on track pretty quickly. It's good to throw caution to the wind sometimes and just let it go. Yeah, you come off the rails now and then...but so what. Other really fantastic stuff came out of it. Jimmy Page did this all of the time...playing our on the hairy edge of his ability. A few great things came out of it I'd say...

The only criticism (constructive of course!) I can offer is that as the track progress, you seemed to fall back on your comfort zone. In the beginning, you really locked into the funky vibe and were playing funky stuff. As the track went on, it was still great playing, but not quite as funky.

Keep at it...you've really developed some great chops and a great style of playing.

I noticed you play with both pickups on. How do you balance them out? I tend to solo on the neck pickup.

Hey Caponi!
Not bad at all! It's better than I can do. I was learning pretty well and had to sell my electric guitar. You had some great licks. The stuff you said nobody would want to play? I'm gonna let you in on a secret, not just for guitar playing, but for life. If you do something you didn't intend, or something doesn't work out how you wanted, don't make a face, or swear, or stop. Just keep going like you intended to do that! Pretty soon you might find the thing you thaought was terrible is being copied by others! I've seen it! Good Job!

Wise words.

In the context of guitar jams, there are a good number of times that I didn't play what I intended in the moment...but stumbled onto something else that was pretty cool.

Hi man really cool jam. try to pause a bit more. take a break, let the listener absorb your playing. try practicing like this: take a breath and play until you need to take another breath, then stop and take a breath and start playing again. pretend your sax player or some other wind instrument. And sing the lines you're about to play in your mind at list.
good job!
