Hi, I am wondering if it is better to use a metronome to practice arpeggios. Since you dont want to pick the notes, and instead kind of rake them, how can you practice this to a metronome? maybe i have the concept wrong...thanks

what you are trying to work on is sweep picking right?
You need to get your left hand to do those arpeggios. Still, you'll do the "rake" movement, but it will seem that your right hand has nothing to do. That's normal, since sweeping is done to have less right hand movement. SO get your metronome, and play your arpeggios one note to the beat. If it's too easy for your left hand, increase the speed. etc.

Ok, here is an example. The arpreggios in the "crossroads" dual. The first time ralph macchio,(or vai), plays he plays a series of arpeggios then goes into that wicked neo-classical sounding solo.

What is the best way to play those type of apreggios? thanks
