There are lots of folks here your age and older learning to play again including yours truly. I started up after a 35-year break and after a year or so was beyond my former abilities. Unless there is a specific and serious physical or mental condition, age is not an impediment to learning guitar. Arthritis in the fret hand? Activity generally helps arthritis...it certainly helps more than inactivity.

Guitar Tricks is an outstanding place to learn guitar...you have nothing to lose in the attempt and a huge amount to gain.

Aging is inevitable, growing old is a state of mind and a choice. Go for it! And go for it now!!
"It takes a lot of devotion and work, or maybe I should say play, because if you love it, that's what it amounts to. I haven't found any shortcuts, and I've been looking for a long time."

Hi gedvan..
Take a look through "Where do I start" on home page..then get right back to the basic with Fundamentels 1 and 2.. Fundamentel 1 will help you use the right terminology to ask the question you need to ask. If you need to ask.
Top right corner in the red banner has great tools that work as good
referrences. Also two search tools are handy. One for the site and another for the forums.
Also on the home page is "My Guitar Tricks" 4 catagories to aid tracking your work. Copy and Paste lesson titles in here to pinpoint instructore and forum members to locate lesson you may need help with.
Good luck on your guitar trip..

I see you are a Register User and I would say try being a full access member for a while and try some lessons. This site is not only a great way to start but great for advanced players too.

If you had any skill in the past, you will find that it is alot like a bike and go 'oh yeah, I remember how to do this now'. Many here are old(er) guitar restarters. I (just) turned 49 and, until a few years ago, had take a decade off. It comes back. I came back pretty quickly but I did find that what I used to play was not as interesting to me. I have spent time in other genres on this site (and there are many) checking stuff out.

Never too old and never too late if you enjoy something.
