Amps/Pedals/Guitars
Any body got any suggestion on websites/books that might be helpful in teaching me the technologies, biology and settings of amps/guitars/pedals. Coz I think it's about time I got off my ass learned some of that ****, coz I've really never gone into it before and I'm starting to feel a lil stupid. I just plug my guitar in n find any ol' setting that I like n play. But I would like to know more about the technology behind the sound.

Check out some guitar magazines. I highly recommend Guitar Player. It's been the leader for years. You can read about different techniques, settings that the pros use and lots of other great stuff. http://www.guitarplayer.com/ You can get stuff off their website too. Are you looking for a particular sound? Blues? Rock? Jazz? A certain player? Hope this helps.

It's mot so much a sound, I'm after. I realise I probably put this in the wrong section. I'm more lookin for the technical side, and how amps make a sound, what different parts makes what difference and why. Stuff like that, but I will check out the site. Cheers.

are many ways.. http://www.amptone.com is very good [esp check the links], the site pstring mentions in the places to go section, http://www.guitarnuts.com for guitar wiring
and if you do a search on google for the specific topic your after[eg how does a wah pedal work] you can get some good results.
To go after the specific question you ask,well, i've not got all the way there myself yet but it is the order and combinations of valves,chips,resistors and capacitors[etc,etc] which give any circuit it's "tonal signature".
I guess that to find out the answer you'd probably have to get a certificate in electronic engineering/circuit design!
so probably the best bet is to get a book on audio electronic projects,or a 130 IN 1 Electronics Lab or similar project "bank" (as these go some way to helping one to understand how the components interact), and work up from there.
